I am a visual Artist who uses site-specific installations to explore the relationship between body and space. My practice grows from interests in psychogeography, domestic rituals and archival practice, and I often use photography and film to investigate the spaces around me. By drawing attention to things which often go overlooked I hope to instil a state of curiosity within the viewer and a willingness to explore their own environments which they are already familiar with.
One of the highlights from my year in Inc space has been a collaboration with Heledd C. Evans in which we created an audio-visual installation called Interwoven. This was created and exhibited in Shift at the end of last year and has since evolved into a continual collaboration project.
Upcoming projects include sculpture trails in Anglesey and Norfolk and a funded residency in Derby, as well as exhibitions in and around Cardiff.
Being part of Inc Space has given me the confidence to continue pursuing an artistic practice after University. The workshop and mentoring sessions have been invaluable and I have learned a lot in just a few short months. I can leave knowing that I have a strong and supportive network of peers and this whole experience has made transitioning from student to Artist a lot easier.
Rwy’n Artist gweledol sy’n defnyddio gosodiadau safle-benodol i archwilio’r berthynas rhwng y corff a’r gofod. Mae fy ymarfer yn tyfu o ddiddordebau mewn seicogeograffeg, defodau domestig ac ymarfer archifol, ac rwy’n aml yn defnyddio ffotograffiaeth a ffilm i ymchwilio i’r gofodau o’m cwmpas. Trwy dynnu sylw at bethau sy’n aml yn cael eu hanwybyddu, gobeithiaf feithrin cyflwr chwilfrydedd o fewn y gwyliwr a pharodrwydd i archwilio eu hamgylcheddau eu hunain y maent eisoes yn gyfarwydd â hwy.
Un o uchafbwyntiau fy mlwyddyn yn yr Inc Space fu cydweithredu â Heledd C. Evans lle gwnaethom greu gosodiad clyweledol o’r enw Interwoven. Crëwyd ac arddangoswyd hwn yn Shift ddiwedd y llynedd ac ers hynny mae wedi esblygu’n brosiect cydweithredu parhaus.
Ymhlith y prosiectau sydd ar ddod mae llwybrau cerfluniau yn Ynys Môn a Norfolk a phreswyliad wedi’i ariannu yn Derby, yn ogystal ag arddangosfeydd yng Nghaerdydd a’r cyffiniau.
Mae bod yn rhan o Inc Space wedi rhoi hyder imi barhau i ddilyn ymarfer artistig ar ôl y Brifysgol. Mae’r gweithdy a’r sesiynau mentora wedi bod yn amhrisiadwy ac rydw i wedi dysgu llawer mewn ychydig fisoedd byr yn unig. Gallaf adael gan wybod bod gen i rwydwaith o gyfoedion cryf a chefnogol ac mae’r holl brofiad hwn wedi gwneud trosglwyddo o fyfyriwr i Artist yn llawer haws.
