‘The Diff Pub Guide’ is a branding campaign that aims to provide tourists coming to the capital with an insight into Cardiff’s real pub culture. By helping them to get a true essence of the city this will attempt to reduce pub closures in the capital. Since 2003, 46 pubs in and around the centre of Cardiff have been closed with many being unable to compete with more affordable pubs that are being opened by large franchises such as J.D Whetherspoons. By giving the audience an insight into the true pub gems as well as a route they can follow with information surrounding the origin of these premises, this guide will help to provide the reader with a bit of history into the city through a more social aspect that links back to the real purpose of pubs. From the insight given by this guide, the aim is that people will be more inclined to step away from franchised bars and experience the more traditional pubs associated with Cardiff to understand its true heritage.

Ymgyrch frandio yw ‘The Diff Pub Guide’ a’i nod yw rhoi cipolwg ar ddiwylliant tafarndai Caerdydd i dwristiaid sy’n dod i’r brifddinas. Drwy eu helpu i gael gwir ymdeimlad o’r ddinas, bydd yn ceisio lleihau nifer y tafarndai sy’n cau yn y brifddinas. Ers 2003, mae 46 o dafarndai yng nghanol Caerdydd a’r cyffiniau wedi cau gyda llawer ohonynt yn methu â chystadlu â thafarndai mwy fforddiadwy sy’n cael eu hagor gan fasnachfreintiau mawr fel J.D. Wetherspoons. Drwy roi cipolwg i’r gynulleidfa ar dafarndai gwych yn ogystal â llwybr y gallant ei ddilyn gyda gwybodaeth am darddiad y safleoedd hyn, bydd y canllaw hwn yn helpu i roi rhywfaint o hanes y ddinas i’r darllenydd drwy agwedd fwy cymdeithasol sy’n cysylltu’n ôl â gwir ddiben tafarndai. O’r cipolwg a roddir gan y canllaw hwn, y nod yw y bydd pobl yn fwy tebygol o droi eu cefnau ar fariau masnachfraint a mynd i dafarndai mwy traddodiadol sy’n gysylltiedig â Chaerdydd er mwyn deall ei gwir dreftadaeth.
