BA Fine Art

I was trying to think of some words that could be used to sum up the group of students that will be graduating from the Fine Art course this year, 2020. ‘Passion’ for the subject came first, then ‘Energy’ for the way students have worked to creatively hone their ideas over the past three years of study. The last, and maybe most important word is ‘Resilience’.

This year of Fine Art students have been passionate, energetic, and resilient enough to continue working to get their degrees in the face of global emergency, uncertainty, restrictions and change. As great artists do, our students have adapted their work to the circumstances, using it as an opportunity to learn even more new skills and ideas. Their artistic practice continues to question and add to our understanding of what’s going on in the world we live in. You will see that the standard, quality and diversity of the work remains high, and can see this work here in the catalogue as well as links to students’ websites and other social media..

We are incredibly proud of our students as they graduate each year. However, this year in particular we acknowledge the passion, energy and resilience of students that have worked hard to develop their work in new and sometimes unexpected ways while being restricted to their homes. The curiosity of the world around them combined with professionalism for their artwork and has set this cohort of students up to be leading artists in the future.

Well Done Everyone.

Roeddwn i'n ceisio meddwl am ychydig o eiriau y gellid eu defnyddio i grynhoi'r criw o fyfyrwyr fydd yn graddio o'r cwrs Celfyddyd Gain eleni, 2020. ‘Angerdd' am y pwnc ddaeth yn gyntaf, yna 'egni' o ran y ffordd mae'r myfyrwyr wedi gweithio i hogi eu syniadau'n greadigol dros y tair blynedd diwethaf o astudio. Y gair olaf, a'r un pwysicaf efallai, yw 'gwydnwch’.

Mae'r garfan o fyfyrwyr Celfyddyd Gain eleni wedi bod yn ddigon angerddol, egnïol a gwydn i ddal ati i weithio er mwyn ennill eu graddau yn wyneb argyfwng, ansicrwydd, cyfyngiadau a newid byd-eang. Fel pob artist gwerth ei halen, mae ein myfyrwyr wedi addasu eu gwaith i'r amgylchiadau, gan ddefnyddio hyn fel cyfle i ddysgu hyd yn oed mwy o sgiliau a syniadau newydd. Mae eu hymarfer artistig yn parhau i gwestiynu ac ychwanegu at ein dealltwriaeth o'r hyn sy'n digwydd yn y byd rydym yn byw ynddo. Fe welwch fod safon, ansawdd ac amrywiaeth y gwaith yn parhau'n uchel, a gallwn weld y gwaith yn y catalog hwn yn ogystal â dolenni i wefannau’r myfyrwyr a chyfryngau cymdeithasol eraill.

Rydym yn hynod falch o'n myfyrwyr wrth iddyn nhw raddio bob blwyddyn. Eleni fodd bynnag, rydym yn cydnabod angerdd, egni a gwydnwch myfyrwyr sydd wedi gweithio'n galed i ddatblygu eu gwaith mewn ffyrdd newydd ac weithiau annisgwyl wrth gael eu cyfyngu i'w cartrefi. Mae rhyfeddod y byd o'u cwmpas law yn llaw â phroffesiynoldeb yn eu gwaith celf wedi sicrhau lle'r garfan hon o fyfyrwyr fel artistiaid blaenllaw yn y dyfodol.

Da iawn bawb.
