Exhibiting aesthetic sensibilities which are experienced from visual representation created within an object and the displaying of contradictions between the real and unreal is central to my work.
This visual language of past and present creates a ‘tipping point’ developing an intimacy with the viewer in which they are invited to question their perception. My aim for this work is to create signifiers from familiar natural, environments and manmade objects enabling memories to be triggered and narratives to be formed by evoking sensory, subjective, psychological and emotional reactions which are experienced through memories and storytelling.
These binary opposites relating to past and present create a dialogue in the visual language.
The ambiguous and familiar objects work together forming symbolic representations of land, location, storytelling and history which are displayed to the audience where they can be the director of their story.
