The inspiration of my work comes from my love of art and photography. The summer before my final collection I spent travelling around France; here I got to appreciate the works of Claude Monet. Visualising the technique of Impressionism in the famous paintings, I began to cultivate the idea of how to portray this through texturised fashion garments. The presentation and editorial element of my project was significant to emphasise how these garments were art being brought to life. The unique texture contrasted the bold colours of the Merino wool which was hand sewn distinctively on each dress. Each garment was stylised with hand-painted accessories of each Monet painting it drew inspiration from. My goal was to re-create the narrative of these paintings in a contemporary, stylish way.

Daw’r ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer fy ngwaith o fy nghariad at gelf a ffotograffiaeth. Treuliais yr haf cyn fy nghasgliad terfynol yn teithio o gwmpas Ffrainc; yma ces i’r cyfle i werthfawrogi gwaith Claude Monet. Gan ddelweddu’r dechneg Argraffiadaeth yn y paentiadau enwog, dechreuais ddatblygu’r syniad o sut i bortreadu hyn trwy ddillad ffasiwn gweadog. Roedd cyflwyniad ac elfen olygyddol fy mhrosiect yn arwyddocaol i bwysleisio sut y bu’r dillad hyn yn gelf sy’n cael eu dod yn fyw. Bu i’r gwead unigryw gyferbynnu lliwiau eofn y wlân Merino a wnïwyd â llaw mewn ffordd nodedig ar bob ffrog. Delweddwyd pob dilledyn gydag ategolion a baentiwyd â llaw o bob paentiad Monet y galwodd arno am ysbrydoliaeth. Fy nod oedd ail-greu naratif y paentiadau hyn mewn ffordd gyfoes a steilus.
