Giulia Patricolo

BA (Hons) Fine Art

My artwork mixes common images found in mass media and popular culture such as celebrities, models and politicians and mixes it with a sense of humour.

It is making fun of different aspects of life and placing it in fake frames in order to be placed within context in a gallery space. The collages are made from newspapers, magazines, wallpaper and a lot of glue.

Mae fy ngwaith celf yn cymysgu delweddau cyffredin sydd ar gael yn y cyfryngau torfol a diwylliant poblogaidd megis selebs, modelau a gwleidyddion ac yn ei gymysgu â hiwmor.

Mae’n gwneud sbort am ben agweddau gwahanol ar fywyd a’i roi mewn fframiau ffug er mwyn ei roi mewn cyd-destun yn ei le mewn oriel. Mae’r collages wedi’u gwneud drwy ddefnyddio papurau newydd, cylchgronau, papur wal a llawer o glud.

I would describe my art as confessional; I take inspiration from my life events and feelings surrounding these experiences, I translate this through my work. I see my practice as a portal from my life in which I can lose myself and explore the deepest truths of my...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
