BA (Hons) Textiles

I am a surface pattern designer and natural dyer based in Somerset, my main area of interest is sustainability within the fashion industry. I hope to work to turn the tide of mainstream, trend-based fast fashion and the working conditions and environmental harm that go hand in hand with this.

Nature, rock climbing and landscapes inspire my working style and colour palettes, I enjoy working by hand such using natural dyeing and screen printing processes. However, I also prefer to draw digitally using an Ipad for endless creative freedom or to hand draw and digitally manipulate.

This ‘tribal patterns’ collection is a demonstration of colour and manipulated tribal mark-making, which I have digitally curated into a thirty piece pattern collection. These designs are intended to be screen printed by hand using natural dyes and binders, it is a collection meant to celebrate natural tones and is targeted at anyone interested in wearing sustainable fashion regardless of age or gender.

My design style has really varied during the course of my degree and has culminated in a wide-ranging set of design styles and skills. I am now looking to gain experience within the sustainable textiles industry and at how I can begin to make a difference in the actions of those around me.

Rwy’n ddylunydd patrymau ar yr wyneb a lliwydd naturiol o Wlad yr Haf, sy’n ymddiddori’n bennaf mewn cynaliadwyedd o fewn y diwydiant ffasiwn. Fy nod yw newid arferion ffasiwn prif ffrwd cyflym sy’n seiliedig ar chwiwiau a thueddiadau, a’r amodau gwaith a’r niwed amgylcheddol sy’n mynd law yn llaw â hyn.

Mae natur, dringo creigiau a thirweddau yn ysbrydoli fy steil a phaletau lliw. Rwy’n mwynhau gweithio gyda llaw, gan ddefnyddio prosesau llifynnau naturiol a sgrin-brintio. Er hynny, mae’n well gennyf ddarlunio’n ddigidol hefyd, gan ddefnyddio’r iPad ar gyfer rhyddid creadigol diddiwedd neu ddarlunio â llaw a thrin yn ddigidol.

Mae’r casgliad ‘patrymau llwythol’ hwn yn arddangosiad o liw a marciau llwythol wedi’u trin, sydd wedi’i guradu’n ddigidol i greu casgliad o batrymau tri deg darn. Bwriedir i’r cynlluniau hyn gael eu sgrin-brintio â llaw gan ddefnyddio llifynnau a rhwymwyr naturiol, er mwyn creu casgliad sydd i fod i ddathlu arlliwiau naturiol ac wedi’i anelu at unrhyw un â diddordeb mewn gwisgo ffasiwn gynaliadwy waeth beth fo’u hoed neu eu rhyw.

Mae fy arddull ddylunio wedi amrywio’n fawr yn ystod fy nghwrs gradd ac wedi arwain ar gyfres eang o arddulliau a medrau dylunio. Bellach, rwy’n chwilio am brofiad yn y diwydiant tecstilau cynaliadwy a gweld sut alla i ddechrau gwneud gwahaniaeth i arferion pobl o’m cwmpas.
