As a designer my research sources and inspirations are influenced by my curiosity with exploring and creating. My research for my graduate collection is linked to three words; Mysterious, Otherworldly and Femininity which describes this collection inspired by Gothic literature, nature, architecture, past fables and fairy tales.

The Gothic themes and shapes from Dracula, especially spiders, bats and insects inspired the sharp impressive bold lines and shapes created in my collection. The silhouette of the sleeves, skirt and trousers emulate the movement and shapes inspired by the drama created by bat wings. The embellished hand-crafted be-jewelled spiders and my own creation of the crystal fabric surfaces inspired by ice on a spiderweb are key features within my collection. My passion for experimenting with exploring and pushing the boundaries of creative pattern cutting and construction techniques is evident within the collection pieces. The colourways highlight the forms and shapes and are bringing my trend story to life. As a designer experimenting and exploring new techniques and challenge the boundaries of traditional fashion is my aim.

“One can never be creative without curiosity”

Fel dylunydd dylanwadir ar fy ffynonellau ymchwil ac ysbrydoliaeth gan fy chwilfrydedd wrth ymchwilio a chreu. Mae fy ymchwil i fy nghasgliad graddedig yn gysylltiedig â thri gair; Dirgel, Arallfydol a Benyweidd-dra sy’n disgrifio’r casgliad hwn a ysbrydolir gan lenyddiaeth Gothig, natur, pensaernïaeth, chwedlau’r gorffennol a storïau tylwyth teg.

Bu i themâu a siapiau Gothig o Dracula, yn enwedig corynnod, ystlumod a phryfed ysbrydoli’r llinellau eofn miniog a thrawiadol a grëir yn fy nghasgliad. Mae silwét y llewys, sgert a throwsus yn efelychu’r symudiad a siapiau a ysbrydolwyd gan y ddrama a grëir gan adenydd ystlumod. Mae’r corynnod addurnedig o waith llaw gyda’u gemau a fy nghreadigaeth fy hun o’r arwynebau ffabrig crisial a ysbrydolir gan iâ ar we corryn yn nodweddion allweddol o fewn fy nghasgliad. Mae fy angerdd dros arbrofi gydag ymchwil a gwthio ffiniau technegau torri ac adeiladu patrymau creadigol yn amlwg o fewn darnau’r casgliad. Mae’r llwybrau lliw yn amlygu’r ffurfiau a’r siapiau ac yn dod â fy stori dueddiadau’n fyw. Fel dylunydd, arbrofi ac ymchwilio i dechnegau newydd a herio ffiniau ffasiwn traddodiadol yw fy nod.

“Ni ellir byth fod yn greadigol heb chwilfrydedd”
