Product design is an enjoyable course where I have had the opportunity to learn lots of new skills such as CAD and how to render my sketches, I have also met lots of new people and made new friends. The lecturers and technicians have been fantastic and have been very helpful when I have been stuck working on one of projects. In my final year I have had the opportunity to choose my own brief for my major and minor project, this gave me the chance to work on something that I have an interest in and would like to take forward as a career. I chose to do these two projects on sports and exercise equipment as I thoroughly enjoy most sports and I currently know that there are lots of areas where sports and exercise equipment can be improved. So my major project I decided to do it on home gym equipment for users which are unexperienced in how to use exercise equipment correctly and don’t feel confident enough in themselves to exercise in public, also current equipment on the market is too expensive and too big for most user to have in their homes. Then my minor project I decided to improve the safety of cyclists on the road due to there currently being lots of accidents and injuries which are involving cyclist’s visibility when cycling on the road.

Rwyf wedi cwrdd â llawer o bobl newydd ac wedi gwneud ffrindiau newydd hefyd. Mae’r darlithwyr a’r technegwyr wedi bod yn wych ac wedi bod yn gymorth mawr pan rydw i wedi bod yn wynebu her wrth weithio ar un o’r prosiectau. Yn fy mlwyddyn olaf, cefais gyfle i ddewis fy mrîff fy hun ar gyfer fy mhrosiect mawr a bach, a rhoddodd hyn gyfle i mi weithio ar rywbeth y mae gen i ddiddordeb ynddo ac yr hoffwn ei ddatblygu fel gyrfa. Dewisais wneud y ddau brosiect yma ar offer chwaraeon ac ymarfer corff gan fy mod i’n mwynhau’r rhan fwyaf o chwaraeon, ac rwy’n gwybod bod llawer o feysydd lle gellir gwella offer chwaraeon ac ymarfer corff. Felly penderfynais wneud fy mhrosiect mawr ar offer campfa ar gyfer y cartref i ddefnyddwyr heb brofiad o ddefnyddio offer ymarfer corff yn gywir, neu nad ydynt yn teimlo’n ddigon hyderus i wneud ymarfer corff yn gyhoeddus. Hefyd mae’r offer sydd ar y farchnad ar hyn o bryd yn rhy ddrud ac yn rhy fawr i’r rhan fwyaf o ddefnyddwyr ei gael yn eu cartrefi. Yna ar gyfer fy mhrosiect bach, penderfynais wella diogelwch beicwyr ar y ffordd oherwydd bod llawer o ddamweiniau ac anafiadau’n digwydd ar hyn o bryd, sy’n gysylltiedig â pha mor weladwy yw beicwyr wrth feicio ar y ffordd.
This image shows the final design which I had come up with for my major project. To come up with this design I followed the design process and carefully selected the best ideas which I took forward and developed to come up with this final design. I used the sketching and rendering skills that I had learned in university to create this design and develop on its aesthetics.

This is the virtual protype of the home gym equipment which I made using CAD and rendered on keyshot. In this image it shows the materials which I selected for manufacturing the home gym as well as the scale of the product. I had learned how to use CAD software and keyshot in university and throughout the three years have developed my skills which are shown in this image.

This is an image of my final design which I had come up with for my minor project. In this image it shows the details of my final design as well as a rendered image of it. I used the design process where I researched, ideated, developed and evaluated my designs which resulted in coming up with the best solution to my brief.

The image shows the virtual prototype of the product, this includes the materials I chose for manufacturing this design as well as the scale of it. This image also explains how the product will be used and how this will benefit the user.
