BA (Hons) Ceramics

I am a potter. I enjoy making functional objects intended for a domestic setting. I want to celebrate the simple act of eating and drinking, to encourage appreciation for hand-made objects; from the visual qualities of surface, to the tactility of holding a vessel, to the sensation of it resting on your lip.I resist the tyranny of mass production, the loss of the unique and instead enjoy the hand of the maker and creating my own signature.
The use of earthenware is part of this, as I use clay local to my area and in keeping with the tradition of British studio pottery. It is also an economic decision, in keeping to lower firing temperatures and therefore part of my longer term business plan.
