I wanted to show my more personal work in this year’s final degree show. I do a lot of fine portraiture work, but this kind of loose ink painting is what I find more relaxing and enjoyable to do, even though it is not as appreciate by the general public as my more traditional realistic work. The paintings presented in this final show tells the story of a dog being abandoned, the owner walks the dog to a pole, ties him up and leaves him there, the dog is then of course put into a kennel. This work is very much inspired by my volunteer hours at the dog shelter and my disbelief in how some people can be so blind to what they put a dog through, when they give a dog up. I hope this piece of work encourages people to think twice about the responsibility of buying a dog.

Roeddwn am ddangos gwaith mwy personol eleni yn arddangosfa gwaith y flwyddyn derfynol. Rydw i’n gwneud llawer o waith portread, ond y math hwn o beintio llac gydag inc sy’n rhoi boddhad i mi a dwi‘n ei gael yn fwy ymlaciol er nad yw’r cyhoedd yn gyffredinol yn ei werthfawrogi cystal â fy ngwaith realistig mwy traddodiadol. Mae’r peintiadau yn yr arddangosfa derfynol hon yn adrodd y stori am gi yn cael ei adael a’i berchennog yn cefnu arno drwy ei glymu at bolyn a’i adael yno; yn y pen draw mae’r ci yn cael ei roi mewn cenel. Yr hyn a’m hysbrydolodd oedd fy ngwaith gwirfoddol mewn lloches i gŵn a gweld, er mawr ddychryn i mi, sut gall pobl fod mor ansensitif i’r hyn y mae’r ci yn ei ddioddef wrth droi cefn arno. Gobeithio y bydd y darn hwn o waith yn annog pobl i feddwl ddwywaith am y cyfrifoldeb sydd ar eu hysgwyddau wrth brynu ci.
