BA (Hons) Fine Art

From the beginning my whole concept of my art practise has constantly changed and developed My main aim within my art is too tackle and experiment different avenues to develop my work. Within my current series, I am using my own photography to paint from as I believe this makes my imagination delve into the canvas. The whole idea behind my work is to challenge the theory of the green man itself. I am recreating my own image of the green women to represent her and the elements that make her who she is. The main objective that got me thinking, is why the legend has been engraved in our minds as a man and not as a women? Instead of a green man why cant there be a green women? This is the rhetorical question I want my audience to think about. I have done research into this query and typically not many artists create the green man as a women but only as the face of a man, this concept further intrigued me and pushed my practise towards using my own two female models as my subject matter. This I believe brought more diversity to my work and made it more captivating, as it is my own representation of the green women. Both artworks are created on a size A0 canvas, using the mediums of acrylic and metallic paint.

O’r dechrau’n deg, mae holl gysyniad fy ymarfer celf wedi newid a datblygu’n gyson. Prif nod fy nghelf yw mynd i’r afael ac arbrofi gyda gwahanol lwybrau er mwyn datblygu fy ngwaith. Yn fy nghyfres gyfredol, rwy’n defnyddio fy ffotograffiaeth fy hun i greu paentiadau ohono, gan fy mod i’n credu bod hyn yn peri i’m dychymyg durio i’r cynfas. Yr holl syniad y tu ôl i’m gwaith yw herio damcaniaeth y dyn gwyrdd ei hun. Rwy’n ail-greu fy nelwedd fy hun o’r fenyw werdd i’w chynrychioli a’r elfennau hynny sy’n ei gwneud hi’n bwy yw hi. Prif ysgogiad y meddylfryd oedd, pam fod y ddamcaniaeth wedi ei sodro yn ein meddyliau i fod yn ymwneud â dyn ac nid menyw? Yn hytrach na dyn gwyrdd, pam na ellir cael menyw werdd? Dyma’r cwestiwn rhethregol rwy’n awyddus i’r gynulleidfa ei ystyried. Rydw i wedi cynnal ymchwil i’r ymholiad hwn, a does dim llawer o artistiaid fel arfer yn creu’r dyn gwyrdd fel menyw, ond fel ffigur ag wyneb dyn. Fe’m swynwyd ymhellach gan y cysyniad hwn, gan fy ngwthio i ddefnyddio dwy fodel fenywaidd ar gyfer fy astudiaethau. Rwy’n credu bod hyn wedi cyflwyno elfen fwy amrywiol i’m gwaith a’i wneud yn fwy cyfareddol, oherwydd mai fy mhortread i o fenywod gwyrdd oedd dan sylw. Crëwyd y ddau waith celf ar gynfas maint A0, gan ddefnyddio cyfryngau paent acrylig a phaent metelig.

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
