BA (Hons) Illustration

These are my own tales, drawing inspiration from my immediate surroundings: family life, conversations with neighbours, local streets. The most recent illustrations show what it`s been like living in isolation during the pandemic. In some of my earlier images I have used well-known fairy tales to fictionalise family relationship.

I have aimed to highlight the good in family life and Cynon Valley community through images that attend to details using intricate line work. I believe careful observational drawings can bring out humour, love, truth and sense of community in ways which people can relate to. I often see myself as a reporter for the people, using their words and images to share humbling and truthful tales that can be enjoyed by anyone who reads.

Fy straeon i yw’r rhain, wedi’u hysbrydoli gan yr hyn sydd o’m hamgylch: bywyd teuluol, sgyrsiau â chymdogion, strydoedd lleol. Mae’r lluniau diweddaraf yn dangos sut beth oedd ynysu yn ystod y pandemig. Yn rhai o’m lluniau cynharach, rydw i wedi defnyddio straeon tylwyth teg adnabyddus i ffuglennu perthynas deuluol.

Rydw i wedi ceisio amlygu’r pethau da mewn bywyd teuluol ac yng nghymuned Cwm Cynon drwy luniau sy’n rhoi sylw i fanylder gan ddefnyddio gwaith llinell cymhleth. Rwy’n credu bod lluniau arsylwgar gofalus yn gallu dangos hiwmor, cariad ac ymdeimlad o gymuned mewn ffyrdd y gall pobl uniaethu â nhw. Rwy’n aml yn gweld fy hun fel gohebydd y bobl, yn defnyddio eu geiriau a’u lluniau i rannu straeon dihymongar a didwyll y gall unrhyw un eu mwynhau.
