Modelling The modelling of the design went through three main stages: understanding the design model and its context within the site through the use of SketchUp software. In the second stage I was mainly working on creating the main two building masses ( the steel structure and the envelop closure) using calculated parametric curves to work out the desire shape of the design. At this stage I have utilised Revit conceptual and adaptive generic modelling platforms. In the final stage the designed masses were placed on the existing site and finally the internal layouts and finishes materials were added to complete the construction.
Detailing Understanding the technologies that involve in making a building stand and sustain successfully is what makes Architectural Technology studies unique. Through this project I have gained great understanding and knowledge of how such complex structure can be detailed to be constructed and to comply with certain building regulations
As a graduating student my final project was an opportunity for me to push the boundaries of my skills with modelling and designing.Therefore, through this project I was able to gain new knowledge of how to model an entire building through designing complex masses and families that came to gather to build up my final design of Newport Central Library
