As an emerging womenswear and childrenswear designer I like to incorporate thinking as sustainably as possible and incorporating that frame of mind into my designs with practicality and fun still remaining the main focus. Whether that is through practicing zero waste pattern cutting techniques or with what fabrics I choose and how I apply dye to them.

My final major project; The Future of the Commuter focusses on the coronavirus pandemic, climate change and the impacts that the two have had on each other where people commute into the cities. The coronavirus forced people to hold back from public transport and drive to work alone more. The Future of the Commuter encourages walking and cycling as well as using the tube to commute in and out of the city with most underground lines allowing bikes or folded bikes in the peak commuting hours of the day.

Fel dylunydd dillad menywod a dillad plant sy’n datblygu, rwy’n hoffi ymgorffori meddwl mor gynaliadwy â phosibl ac ymgorffori’r ffrâm honno o feddwl yn fy nyluniadau gydag ymarferoldeb a hwyl yn dal i fod yn brif ffocws. P’un ai yw hynny drwy ymarfer technegau torri patrymau dim gwastraff neu gyda pha ffabrigau rwy’n eu dewis a sut rwy’n defnyddio lliw ynddynt.

Mae fy mhrosiect mawr terfynol; ‘The Future of the Commuter’ yn canolbwyntio ar bandemig y coronafeirws, newid yn yr hinsawdd a’r effeithiau y mae’r ddau wedi’u cael ar ei gilydd lle mae pobl yn cymudo i’r dinasoedd. Roedd y coronafeirws yn gorfodi pobl i ddal yn ôl o drafnidiaeth gyhoeddus a gyrru i’w gwaith ar eu pennau eu hunain yn fwy. Mae ‘The Future of the Commuter’ yn annog cerdded a beicio yn ogystal â defnyddio’r tiwb i gymudo i mewn ac allan o’r ddinas gyda’r rhan fwyaf o linellau tanddaearol yn caniatáu beiciau neu feiciau wedi’u plygu yn oriau cymudo brig y dydd.
