Inspired by the intense emotionality of the Romantic period, my artistic practice centres around dramatic human experiences such as love, adventure, grief, fear, and death. The creative process can be challenging and turbulent, as I try to balance social, philosophical and psychological research with my felt personal experiences in an honest and comprehensive way. Working in oil paint, I aim to conjure relatable narratives using the metaphor of War. Each faceless soldier may be considered a sub-personality within my own mental structure; and is intended to reference the absurdity of subjective life through a juxtaposition of toy-like charm and explicit mortal vulnerability.
