I believe there is more to this life than meets the limited perception of our senses. I believe our understanding of the world via our material bodies poses as a barrier to the spiritual realm we inhabit on a daily basis. There is such an air of mystery around what the soul is and where it goes once departed from the body in death, one that may never be solved, but this existential barrier has been known about and celebrated by indigenous oral cultures for millennia.

We all have the sensory capacity to feel each other’s energy, energy which is given off from our hearts. Rather than mimic cultures which are not my own, I wanted to represent the soul, and it’s passing through a conceptual contemporary piece. I have chosen to use the human form in high fired porcelain and light to represent the energy we all have within us. I wanted to make a delicate piece that could help people to open up to the possibility that life does not end in death, but that it continues on beyond time and space away from the material world we know so well, and to open the door of conversation to humanity turning to spiritual progress against material gain.

Rwy’n credu bod mwy i’r bywyd yma nag y bydd canfyddiad cyfyngedig ein synhwyrau yn ei amlygu i ni. Rwy’n credu bod ein dealltwriaeth ni o’r byd drwy ein cyrff materol yn rhwystr i’r byd ysbrydol rydyn ni’n trigo ynddo yn feunyddiol. Mae cymaint o ddirgelwch o gwmpas yr hyn yw’r enaid ac i ble y bydd yn mynd wedi i ni farw ac iddo ymadael â’r corff, un na chaiff ei ddatrys byth o bosib, ond mae’r rhwystr dirfodol hwn yn hysbys i ddiwylliannau llafar cynhenid ers miloedd o flynyddoedd.

Mae’r gallu synhwyraidd gan bob un ohonom i deimlo egni ein gilydd, egni a ddaw o’n calonnau. Yn hytrach na dynwared diwylliannau nad ydw i’n perthyn iddyn nhw, roeddwn am gynrychioli’r enaid, a’i ymadawiad, drwy ddarn cysyniadol cyfoes. Rwyf wedi dewis defnyddio’r ffurf ddynol mewn porslen wedi’i ffwrndanio ar wres uchel, a golau i gynrychioli’r egni sydd ynom ni i gyd. Roeddwn am wneud darn o waith cain a fyddai’n helpu pobl i fod yn agored i’r posibilrwydd nad marwolaeth yw diwedd bywyd, ond ei fod yn parhau y tu hwnt i amser a gofod, i ffwrdd oddi wrth y byd materol rydym yn ei adnabod cystal, ac i agor drws sgyrsiau fel y bydd yr hil ddynol yn troi i gyfeiriad cynnydd ysbrydol yn hytrach na manteision materol.
