A family is made up of individuals: parents, children, siblings who come together to make a whole.

Belonging to a group can bring a sense of cohesion and unity, but individuality cannot be ignored.

I believe the same is true for the ceramics used within a home, particularly used in conjunction with a family, ceramics belongs to all but is used by individuals; like with children fighting to get use of their favourite mug, or a large jug filled with water being passed around the table for everyone to share.

By using my skills in throwing and surface decoration, i create a sense of cohesion and individuality; a flower motif is laid across all pieces, uniting them, yet on each the design is unique mirroring that same sense of unity and individuality between the different members of a family.

Casgliad o unigolion yw teulu: rhieni, plant, brodyr a chwiorydd sy’n dod at ei gilydd i greu cyfanwaith.

Gall perthyn i grŵp feithrin teimlad o gydlyniad ac undod, ond ni ellir anwybyddu unigoliaeth.

Dwi’n credu bod yr un peth yn wir am y gerameg a ddefnyddir mewn cartref, yn enwedig yr hyn a ddefnyddir gyda theulu, mae cerameg yn perthyn i bawb ond yn cael ei defnyddio gan unigolion; fel gyda phlant yn ymladd i ddefnyddio’u hoff fwg, neu jwg fawr wedi’i lenwi â dŵr yn cael ei basio o gwmpas y bwrdd i bawb ei rannu.

Trwy ddefnyddio fy sgiliau taflu ac addurno arwynebau, dwi’n creu ymdeimlad o gydlyniad ac unigoliaeth; dwi’n rhoi motiff blodau ar yr holl ddarnau, gan eu huno, ond mae’r dyluniad yn unigryw ar bob un sy’n adlewyrchu’r un ymdeimlad o undod ac unigoliaeth rhwng gwahanol aelodau teulu.
