The design scheme is based on the development of a prominent waterside site at Cardiff Bay, South Wales for mixed use of Residential, Office and Retail with a strong public realm and a connection of open spaces between them. Overall the scheme is a mixed-use building of six floors including the penthouse apartments.
The most interesting aspect of the location were the views and its relationship to the surroundings that I tried to capture through my design. The shape of my building was dictated by this aspect to allow everyone to enjoy the spectacular views. The floor levels respond to the existing topography of the site and ensure a strong connection between the dockside properties and the water’s edge.
The layout and arrangement of spaces focused on the idea of building a community within a residential complex. Shared recreational space which opens to a green atrium space and walkway that interconnect above the first level allows households to socialise with each other and form a stronger community.
Mae’r cynllun dylunio’n seiliedig ar ddatblygu safle nodedig ar y glannau ym Mae Caerdydd ar gyfer defnydd Preswyl, Swyddfeydd a Manwerthu cymysg gyda pharth cyhoeddus cryf a chysylltiad rhyngddynt ar ffurf mannau agored. Yn gyffredinol mae’r cynllun yn adeilad defnydd cymysg o chwe llawr gan gynnwys y fflatiau pentis.
Yr agwedd fwyaf diddorol ar y lleoliad oedd y golygfeydd a’i berthynas â’r ardal o’i gwmpas y ceisiais ei gofnodi trwy fy nyluniad. Rhagnodwyd siâp fy adeilad gan yr agwedd hon fel y gall pawb fwynhau’r golygfeydd ysblennydd. Mae lefelau’r lloriau’n ymateb i dopograffeg bresennol y safle ac yn sicrhau cysylltiad cryf rhwng yr adeiladau ar lan y doc ac ymyl y dŵr.
Canolbwyntiodd y cynllun a threfniad y gofodau ar y syniad o adeiladu cymuned o fewn adeilad preswyl. Mae gofod hamdden a rennir sy’n agor ar ofod atriwm gwyrdd a llwybr cerdded sy’n cysylltu â’i gilydd uwchben y lefel gyntaf yn galluogi aelwydydd i gymdeithasu â’i gilydd a ffurfio cymuned gryfach.
