My work revolves around objects, from antiques to the everyday. I have grown up involved in my mothers antique business, therefore, the spaces I’ve inhabited have always housed ever-changing collections of objects spanning through the ages. Through my work I aim to investigate, dissect and translate these objects.

Drawing is always the beginning of my work and from there everything develops, my practice is process lead and through making, I am able to discover its meaning. Through continuous line drawing I am able to disconnect from the object and take my work beyond what I see before me in order to explore it further. In my work I also question the importance of objects. Traditionally, imperfect objects with cracks, chips, stains and breakages, would be considered less valuable, but to me these imperfections add value by revealing their past and characteristics. The concept of displacement plays a roll in my work by challenging the conventional expectations of presentation. Plates discarded on the floor, lids proudly hung on the wall, piles of assembled ‘antiques’ precariously balanced.

Working through a verity of media, ranging from drawing, painting, ceramics/clay and found objects, I am able to create a collage of work that represents my investigation into ‘the object’. My work is exhibited as an installation, allowing each piece to be seen individually or as part of an ever-changing, ongoing collection of work.

Mae fy ngwaith yn canolbwyntio ar wrthrychau, o henebion i bethau bob dydd. Dwi wedi tyfu i fyny gyda busnes henebion fy mam, felly mae’r llefydd dwi wedi byw ynddyn nhw bob amser wedi bod yn gartref i gasgliadau o wrthrychau o gyfnodau amrywiol sy’n newid yn gyson. Trwy fy ngwaith, fy nod yw ymchwilio, dadelfennu a throsi’r gwrthrychau hyn.

Lluniadu yw cam cyntaf fy ngwaith bob tro ac o hynny mae popeth yn datblygu, mae fy ymarfer yn cael ei arwain gan brosesau ac wrth wneud, dwi’n gallu darganfod ei ystyr. Trwy luniadu llinellau parhaus, dwi’n gallu datgysylltu oddi wrth y gwrthrych a mynd â’m gwaith y tu hwnt i’r hyn dwi’n ei weld o’m blaen er mwyn ei archwilio ymhellach. Yn fy ngwaith, dwi’n cwestiynu pwysigrwydd gwrthrychau hefyd. Yn draddodiadol, byddai gwrthrychau amherffaith gyda chraciau, mân dyllau, staeniau a rhai wedi torri’n cael eu hystyried yn llai gwerthfawr, ond i mi mae’r diffygion hyn yn ychwanegu gwerth trwy ddatgelu eu gorffennol a’u nodweddion. Mae cysyniad o ddadleoli’n cyfrannu at fy ngwaith trwy herio’r disgwyliadau confensiynol o gyflwyno. Platiau wedi’u gadael ar y llawr, caeadau wedi’u hongian ar y wal gyda balchder, pentyrrau o ‘henebion’ wedi’u cydosod yn simsan.

O weithio drwy amrywiol gyfryngau, yn cynnwys darlunio, peintio, cerameg/clai a gwrthrychau a ddarganfuwyd, gallaf greu collage o waith sy’n cynrychioli fy ymchwiliad i’r ‘gwrthrych’. Mae fy ngwaith yn cael ei arddangos fel gosodiad, gan ganiatáu i bob darn gael ei weld yn unigol neu fel rhan o gasgliad parhaus o waith sy’n newid yn gyson.

My work explores the relationship between a space and the art in it. I have become intrigued by how a painting can effect a space, exploring corporate art, it can be used to influence productivity and creativity in that environment. With influence from Colour Theory,...

We have never been so connected yet so alone. The internet has become integral to our daily lives, no element of our existence seems untouched by it. But have we been caught and paralysed in the web? We are constantly on display and exposed, yet anonymous. We seem to...

I would describe my art as confessional; I take inspiration from my life events and feelings surrounding these experiences, I translate this through my work. I see my practice as a portal from my life in which I can lose myself and explore the deepest truths of my...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
