My time on this Product Design course has helped me direct my attention towards what I want to do with the rest of my life, it has shown me new skills and helped enhance my current skills that I entered the course with. When starting the course, I believed it would be a very similar environment to my college education, instead it’s a much more open collaborative space that allows the free flow of work and socialising. The course has involved not only normal time bound projects but also a good few 24-hour projects that has really focused on my time management, it also gives us an understanding on how harsh the real-world industry can be when giving us projects to work on. The tutors on the course have always made themselves available to help and are never far when needed. During our final year our tutors really pushed us individually to focus on our best skills and work on projects that would help us in the real-world due to the projects that we chose being focused on the same industry that we hope to work in. Two of my projects this year have revolved around the health sector as I see more potential for my work in that area of design more than any other. One of my projects has been re-designing and re-thinking the conventional compression sleeve to make it a more accessible product, I have put most of my effort into this project to help make it stand out to the correct people in industry.

Mae wedi dangos sgiliau newydd i mi ac wedi helpu i hogi’r sgiliau oedd gen i’n barod cyn y cwrs. Wrth gychwyn arni, roeddwn i’n meddwl y byddai’n amgylchedd tebyg iawn i fy addysg coleg, ond erbyn deall, mae’n brofiad llawer mwy agored a chydweithredol sy’n cynnig cyfle i weithio a chymdeithasu’n rhydd. Yn ogystal â phrosiectau â therfyn amser arferol, roedd y cwrs yn cynnwys sawl prosiect 24 awr oedd yn gyfle i ganolbwyntio ar reoli amser yn ogystal â’n helpu i ddeall pa mor llym y gall y diwydiant fod yn y byd go iawn wrth osod prosiectau i weithio arnynt. Roedd tiwtoriaid y cwrs ar gael i helpu bob amser, a byth ymhell pan oedd angen. Yn ystod y flwyddyn olaf, cawsom ein hannog i’r eithaf fel unigolion i ganolbwyntio ar ein sgiliau gorau a gweithio ar brosiectau a fyddai o fudd inni yn y byd go iawn, gan fod y prosiectau a ddewisom yn canolbwyntio ar yr un diwydiant yr oeddem yn gobeithio gweithio ynddo. Y sector iechyd oedd ffocws dau o’m mhrosiectau eleni, gan mai dyma’r maes sy’n cynnig y potensial mwyaf i’m maes dylunio i’n bersonol. Roedd un yn golygu ail-ddylunio ac ailystyried y llawes gywasgu gonfensiynol, i’w gwneud yn gynnyrch mwy hygyrch. Penderfynais ganolbwyntio fwyaf ar y prosiect hwn er mwyn hoelio sylw’r bobl briodol yn y diwydiant.
This is a situation image of my final product of my major project. The product is a compression sleeve with hot and cold treatment that combats the varicose veins problems. The sleeve was designed to allow an easy way to take the compression sleeve on and off, for this to work the sleeve was created with a BOA lace system that tightens with the spin of a dial and loosens if the dial is unclicked.

The exploded diagram is a new design for a at home oil filter that substantially decreases the amount on non-point oil pollution that runs into the sea from the sinks in our homes. This product has a removable and replaceable filter that removes 97% of the oil that drains from your sink and after a month of use cab be thrown in the garden and used as a fertilizer.

My product was designed to be a portable scrambled egg cooker that can be used on the go for people with a fast paced lifestyle. As most dietitians recommend eating within a window of 30 minutes after working out to recover any damage to your muscles. Many people wanted a way to have food rather than the regular protein shakes that are on offer.
Dyluniwyd fy nghynnyrch fel teclyn cludadwy ar gyfer sgramblo wyau, y gellir ei ddefnyddio y tu allan i’r cartref gan bobl sydd â ffordd gyflym o fyw. Roedd llawer o bobl eisiau ffordd o gael bwyd yn hytrach nag yr ysgytlaeth protein arferol sydd ar gael.
This live project lasted 5 weeks where a the companies W2W and Greyfox held a nationwide competition to design a new collaborative working space. After completing the 5 weeks and submitting the final design our team was invited to Dublin to an awards ceremony where my project was awarded second place and gifted a high commendation.
