Longing. Yearning. Nostalgia.
The wistfulness and an earnest desire for Wales.

When I think of Wales, I think of the historic, magnificent, towering mountain ranges, the beautiful, ancient language and the kindness of the people. For me, this is Wales summed up in a sentence.

My final major collection has been inspired by my own personal love for photographing the magnificent mountain ranges of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Welsh language. As a fluent Welsh speaker, I take pride in this and always stride for my work to have a strong Welsh theme running throughout.

My collection thus far is a varied range, from table-ware, kitchen/homeware and decorations such as printed, textural wall hangings. Each element has been carefully designed with my clientele and theme at the forefront of the collection. I have taken an abstract approach to this collection, combining mark made patterns with abstract shapes and symbols, still referring back to my main point of focus and interest.

Within the collection are three sub-collections; “Mynyddoedd ac Afonydd”, “Creigiau” and “Symbolau”. Each sub-collection in Welsh, each inspired by the Brecon Beacons National Park and each representing the true meaning of Hiraeth.

Hiraethu. Dyheu. Nostalgia.
Tristwch ac awydd ddifrifol am Gymru.

Pan fyddaf yn meddwl am Gymru, byddaf yn meddwl am y mynyddoedd hanesyddol, mawreddog, uchel; yr heniaith odidog; a charedigrwydd y bobl. I mi dyma Gymru wedi’i chrynhoi yn un frawddeg.

Cafodd fy nghasgliad mawr olaf ei ysbrydoli gan fy nghariad personol i fy hunan at dynnu ffotograffau o fynyddoedd mawreddog Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog ac at yr iaith Gymraeg. Gan fy mod yn siarad Cymraeg yn rhugl, rwy’n ymfalchïo yn hyn ac yn gwneud fy ngorau bob amser i gael thema Gymreig yn rhedeg drwy fy ngwaith.

Hyd yma mae fy nghasgliad yn un amrywiol iawn: llestri bwrdd, nwyddau cegin/ cartref ac addurniadau megis crogluniau printiedig, gweadeddol. Mae pob elfen wedi’i dylunio’n ofalus â’m cleientiaid a’m thema yn cael lle blaen yn y casgliad. Mae fy null yn un haniaethol yn y casgliad hwn, yn cyfuno patrymau sydd wedi’u gwneud â marciau â symbolau a siapiau haniaethol sy’n dal i gyfeirio nôl at fy mhrif ffocws a’m diddordeb.

Mae tri is-gasgliad yn y casgliad: “Mynyddoedd ac Afonydd”, “Creigiau” a “Symbolau”. Mae pob is-gasgliad yn Gymraeg, pob un wedi’i ysbrydoli gan Barc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog a phob un yn cynrychioli gwir ystyr Hiraeth.
