My work is mainly driven by emotional design with the focal intention of sparking blissful emotion within users. The form and finish play a substantial part in triggering this initial visceral response, using curves and organic shapes throughout my work to align with the purpose of my products. Utilising soft colours, smooth textures and ambient light features are just some other factors that contribute to the user’s calming visceral response.

My products’ main function elicits a positive effect upon the users’ mental well-being within the home/ work space. Now more than ever people need to prioritise their mental well-being just as much as their physical health. With so many now working from home or being furloughed I have been inspired as a designer to find ways of making the home/ work space a more idyllic and comfortable environment. I incorporate usability, interaction and ergonomics for a pleasing user experience and therefore a positive behavioural response. I endeavour to apply theories of multi-sensory experience throughout my design process to optimise the enjoyment and functionality of the end product.

Utilising ethical, eco-friendly materials is a priority for me as a designer in order to evoke the user’s reflective response to my products. I know that when I buy ethical products it makes me feel good and this is an important element of the buyer experience. Happy earth – happy designer – happy consumer.
