The Process

Object Oriented Ontology, the idea of an object having an effect on the human mind and being able to recollect thoughts and feelings is very interesting when working with found artefacts. This interaction is of great importance to my work, not just by handling the object but the process of thinking that occurs when we view them. My work aims to use the process of slip casting to evoke emotion through its materials qualities and in doing so provoke thoughts about our own personal relationships with objects. Focusing on this concept, where everyday items play a role in representing their owner, I have adapted on a collection of tableware through the mould- making and slip casting production. Whilst making these pieces, I have found that by experimenting with a process, I am subconsciously reflecting on my objects, therefore creating a body of work that is never finished. This raising the question whether process is just as important as outcome.
