BA (Hons) Fine Art

My practice is bound to working with different mediums and methodologies, thriving in the chaos and artistic freedom that this allows. The core of my practice is bound to my identity and lived experiences. This is something I aim to communicate in a more effective way, even if it is not immediately obvious. Being from the area in which I’m from and raised on working class initiative, I love being able to upcycle; working with found materials or things that others may throw away. The ‘DIY’ aesthetic means that my art is accessible to all. My practice currently explores installation-based art, graffiti/street art culture, and sculptural interventions combined with audio. I am interested in how all of these mediums interlink with my practice by using them to embody personal aspects of my life. I find that I am stepping out of my comfort zone by making works that are personal, thus forcing myself to take ownership of my practice in works that clearly relate back to me. Creating art around being sapphic has aided my journey to acceptance, whilst also finding queer collectives and safe spaces for such work to flourish. I believe art should incite curiosity in the viewer, it is not about having the answers for everyone. I am working on translating my inner visions into tangible forms that remain playful in their construction and perception.

Mae fy ymarfer yn ymwneud â gweithio gyda gwahanol gyfryngau a methodoleg, gan ffynnu yn yr anhrefn a’r rhyddid artistig y mae hyn yn ei ganiatáu. Mae craidd fy ymarfer ynghlwm wrth fy hunaniaeth a phrofiadau fy mywyd. Mae hyn yn rhywbeth rwy’n bwriadu ei gyfathrebu mewn modd mwy effeithiol, hyd yn oed os nad yw’n gwbl amlwg. O ddod o’r ardal a chael fy magu ar fenter dosbarth gweithiol, rwyf wrth fy modd yn gallu uwchgylchu; gweithio gyda deunyddiau rwyf wedi eu darganfod neu bethau y mae eraill wedi eu taflu i ffwrdd. Golyga’r estheteg ‘Gwneud Eich Hun’ fod fy ngwaith celf yn hygyrch i bawb. Ar hyn o bryd mae fy ymarfer yn archwilio celf yn seiliedig ar osodiadau, diwylliant graffiti/celf stryd, ac ymyriadau cerfluniol ar y cyd â sain. Mae gennyf ddiddordeb yn y modd y mae’r holl gyfryngau yma’n cydgysylltu â’m hymarfer drwy eu defnyddio i ymgorffori elfennau personol o fy ngwaith. Teimlaf fy mod yn camu allan o barth cysurus drwy greu gweithiau personol, ac felly gorfodi fy hun i gymryd perchnogaeth o fy ymarfer mewn gweithiau sy’n amlwg yn cyfeirio yn ôl ataf i. Mae creu celf o gwmpas bod yn saffig wedi cynorthwyo fy nhaith at gael fy nerbyn, gan ddod o hyd hefyd i grwpiau cyfunrywiol a mannau diogel er mwyn i waith o’r fath allu ffynnu. Credaf y dylai celf ennyn chwilfrydedd yn y gwyliwr – nid cynnig atebion i bawb yw ei fwriad. Rwy’n gweithio ar gyfleu fy ngweledigaeth fewnol mewn ffurfiau cyffyrddadwy sy’n parhau i fod yn chwareus o ran eu hadeiladwaith a’u cysyniad.

My work explores the relationship between a space and the art in it. I have become intrigued by how a painting can effect a space, exploring corporate art, it can be used to influence productivity and creativity in that environment. With influence from Colour Theory,...

We have never been so connected yet so alone. The internet has become integral to our daily lives, no element of our existence seems untouched by it. But have we been caught and paralysed in the web? We are constantly on display and exposed, yet anonymous. We seem to...

I would describe my art as confessional; I take inspiration from my life events and feelings surrounding these experiences, I translate this through my work. I see my practice as a portal from my life in which I can lose myself and explore the deepest truths of my...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
