My landscapes are always imaginary: the current themes that are suggested throughout my paintings consider the dark, mystical and perhaps fearful. These paintings are inspired by Bruegel, Botticelli and Giorgiones landscapes that feature in their paintings; sometimes dark trees and fraying caves. Perhaps my work is fragile and sensitive relating to the ways that death is represented in art works. I am interested in the idea of the theatre such as back drops and scenic artwork which informs into my paintings through their large tapestry style display. I would like my work to achieve the feeling of wonder and mystery that may feel sacred yet dramatic.

Mae fy nhirluniau bob amser yn rhai dychmygol: mae themâu cyfredol yn fy mheintiadau yn ystyried y tywyll, y cyfriniol ac efallai’r brawychus. Ysbrydolwyd y darluniau gan dirweddau yng ngwaith Bruegel, Botticelli a Giorgiones sy’n dangos coed tywyll ac ogofau rhaflog. Efallai bod fy ngwaith yn fregus a sensitif, yn gysylltiedig â’r ffyrdd y mae marwolaeth yn cael ei phortreadu mewn gweithiau celf. Mae gen i ddiddordeb yn y syniad o theatr megis cefnlenni a gwaith celf golygfeydd y set yn sail i fy mheintiadau drwy eu maint mawr tebyg i dapestri. Hoffwn i fy ngwaith greu’r teimlad o ryfeddod a dirgelwch a allai fod yn sanctaidd ac eto’n ddramatig.

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
