Antidote Yarns and Designs – Yarn is the Remedy!

I spent 25 years working in the high stress Financial Services sector, where I used knitting and crocheting as a means to cope with that stress. In a bid to help others access the therapeutic powers of knit and crochet, I have started a business called Antidote Yarns and Designs.

It is a business selling luxury hand dyed yarns and original knitting and crochet pattern designs with a focus on mental wellbeing. Highest quality, ethically and sustainably sourced yarns are dyed in uplifting and soothing cheerful colours, whilst patterns are designed to create a ‘flow state’ – a sense of fluidity between body and mind.

Patterns range from very complicated where counting is necessary, unusual and unfamiliar stitches are included (requiring tutorials which I provide in both written and video form) and frequent changes in stitch happen, meaning that total concentration is demanded and the mind is kept fully occupied, easing depression by blocking negative or over thinking. On the other end of the spectrum, I have designed patterns using simple, easily memorable repeats with basic common stitches which create a meditative, peaceful mind space, allowing for relaxation and clarity of thought.

My aim is to encourage knitters and crocheters to understand and enjoy the benefits of the process of knitting and crocheting, not just the satisfaction of achieving the finished article.

Edafedd Gwrthwenwyn a Chynlluniau – Edafedd yw’r Ateb!

Treuliais 25 mlynedd yn gweithio o fewn y sector Gwasanaethau Ariannol heriol iawn, gan ddefnyddio gwau a chrosio fel ffyrdd o ymdopi â’r straen. Mewn ymdrech i helpu eraill i gael mynediad i bwerau therapiwtig gwau a chrosio, rwyf wedi sefydlu busnes o’r enw Antidote Yarns and Designs.

Mae’r busnes yn gwerthu edafedd moethus wedi’u lliwio â llaw a chynlluniau patrymau crosio â ffocws ar les meddyliol. Caiff edafedd o’r safon uchaf, o ffynonellau moesegol a chynaliadwy eu lliwio mewn lliwiau dyrchafol i godi calon a thawelu’r meddwl, tra bod y patrymau’n cael eu cynllunio i greu ‘cyflwr o lif’ – ymdeimlad o hylifedd rhwng y corff a’r meddwl.

Amrywia’r patrymau o rai cymhleth iawn lle mae angen cyfrif, yn cynnwys pwythau anarferol ac anghyfarwydd (sy’n gofyn am ddilyn tiwtorial sy’n cael eu cynnig gen i ar ffurf ysgrifenedig a fideo) a newidiadau cyson mewn pwythau, gan olygu fod angen gwir ganolbwyntio wrth i’r meddwl gael ei gadw’n brysur, gan leihau iselder drwy rwystro meddyliau negyddol neu orfeddwl. Ben arall y sbectrwm, rwyf wedi cynllunio patrymau drwy ddefnyddio ailadrodd syml, hawdd eu cofio gan ddefnyddio pwythau sylfaenol cyffredin sy’n datblygu gofod myfyriol a heddychlon yn y meddwl, gan roi cyfle i ymlacio a meddwl clir.

Fy nod yw annog y rhai sy’n gwau a chrosio i ddeall a mwynhau manteision y broses o wau a chrosio, nid y boddhad o greu eitem orffenedig yn unig.
