BA Illustration

In this extraordinary year, we have found new ways of teaching, learning and creating communities. The class of 2021 will be like no other. Whilst working from home in bedrooms, kitchens or living rooms, the students have shown incredible resilience and flexibility to adjust not only their ways of working but also their mind set – to be resourceful, work more independently, deal with uncertainty and to support one another. They are not just walking away with a BA (Hons) degree in Illustration but with a new understanding of themselves and what they are capable of achieving.

We are very lucky to be illustrators, it offers us a space for our imagination, to see things in new ways, to make visible the invisible, to imagine the world from a different perspective or notice what others pass by. The variety and depth of subjects explored by the student cohort show how they have used their creative voices as a space to comment upon, inform, observe, ponder, educate and delight.

Yn ystod y flwyddyn anarferol hon, rydyn ni wedi darganfod ffyrdd newydd o addysgu, dysgu a chreu cymunedau. Bydd dosbarth 2021 yn annhebyg i’r un arall. Wrth weithio gartref mewn ystafelloedd gwely, ceginau neu ystafelloedd byw, mae’r myfyrwyr wedi dangos gwydnwch a hyblygrwydd anhygoel i addasu nid yn unig eu ffyrdd o weithio, ond eu ffordd o feddwl hefyd – i fod yn ddyfeisgar, gweithio’n fwy annibynnol, ymdopi ag ansicrwydd ac i gefnogi ei gilydd. Nid ydynt yn ennill gradd BA (Anrh) mewn Darlunio’n unig, ond dealltwriaeth newydd o’u hunain a’r hyn y gallan nhw ei gyflawni hefyd.

Rydyn ni’n lwcus iawn i fod yn ddarlunwyr, mae’n cynnig gofod inni ar gyfer ein dychymyg, i weld pethau mewn ffyrdd newydd, i wneud yr anweladwy’n weladwy, i ddychmygu’r byd o bersbectif gwahanol neu sylwi ar bethau y’u hanwybyddir gan eraill. Dengys amrywiaeth a manylder y pynciau a archwiliwyd gan garfan y myfyrwyr sut maen nhw wedi defnyddio eu lleisiau creadigol fel gofod i wneud sylwadau ar, hysbysu, nodi, myfyrio, addysgu a difyrru
