Canol y Bae is a building located in a fantastic and full of life site in Cardiff, with its views focusing directly onto Cardiff Bay waterfront, this modern Art’s Centre will attract many members of the public to enjoy its artistic and cultural interior design and use. Green and accessible exterior landscaping is perfect for relaxing and for the community to get closer together.

All design decisions were made in order to satisfy the brief and create a timeless building that could be the new heart of Cardiff Bay.

With sustainability being a huge part of the design, multiple renewable energy systems are seemingly implemented into the building. Water collection systems, solar energy panels, and natural solar gain through the use of double glazed windows, curtain walling, roof lights located on the accessible public rooftop are the main systems used.

The use of black cladding has not only aesthetically pleasing features but also is designed to attract suns heat to limit the use of mechanical heating systems used in the building.
Structurally the building is very simple with the use of steel frame instead of concrete. One of the main sustainable decisions made by the designers was to limit the use of concrete as its manufacturing process itself creates large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere.

The technical side of the building has been designed and detailed by specialists, ensuring the quality and durability of this new addition to the Cardiff Bay front.

Mae Canol y Bae yn adeilad sydd wedi’i leoli mewn safle bendigedig llawn bywyd yng Nghaerdydd, gyda’i olygfeydd yn canolbwyntio’n uniongyrchol ar lannau Bae Caerdydd, bydd y Ganolfan Gelfyddydau fodern yma yn denu llawer o aelodau’r cyhoedd i fwynhau ei ddyluniad a’i ddefnydd celfyddydol a diwylliannol. Mae tirlunio allanol gwyrdd a hygyrch yn berffaith am ymlacio ac i’r gymuned ddod yn agosach at ei gilydd.

Cafodd pob penderfyniad dylunio eu gwneud i fodloni’r briff a chreu adeilad di-amser a allai fod yn galon newydd Bae Caerdydd.

Gyda chynaladwyedd yn rhan enfawr o’r dyluniad, mae’n ymddangos bod llawer o systemau ynni adnewyddadwy wedi’u gweithredu yn yr adeilad. Mae systemau casglu dŵr, paneli ynni solar, a mantais solar naturiol trwy ddefnyddio ffenestri gwydriad dwbl, llenfuriau, goleuadau to wedi’u lleoli at y to cyhoeddus hygyrch yw’r prif systemau sy’n cael eu defnyddio.

Mae gan ddefnydd cladin du nid yn unig nodweddion esthetig pleserus ond hefyd wedi’i ddylunio i ddenu gwres yr haul i gyfyngu defnydd systemau gwresogi mecanyddol yn yr adeilad.
Yn strwythurol mae’r adeilad yn syml iawn gyda defnydd ffrâm dur yn hytrach na choncrit. Un o’r prif benderfyniadau cynaliadwy a wnaed gan y dylunwyr oedd cyfyngu defnydd concrit gan fod ei broses gynhyrchu ei hun yn creu symiau mawr o CO2 i’r atmosffer.

Mae ochr dechnegol yr adeilad wedi’i ddylunio a’i manylu gan arbenigwyr, gan sicrhau ansawdd a pharhauster yr ychwanegiad newydd hwn at lannau Bae Caerdydd.
