My current practice focuses on Grief and Absence explored through lived spaces, this is visualised in oil paintings using muted colours and brushwork techniques to form a blurry illusion representative of memory.

These paintings search for value in inanimate things and question what makes a room feel empty. The process and time spent on them create a personal, visual diary to reflect on the process of grief, I guide my thoughts and feelings through the images I formulate as an outlet for pain. This body of work presents a familiar energy illustrated in these rooms that encourages viewers to resonate with. This body of work intends to allow for time to reflect on lost memories and nostalgia.

Mae fy ymarfer cyfredol yn canolbwyntio ar Alar ac Absenoldeb drwy astudiaeth o leoedd byw, a chaiff hyn ei ddelweddu mewn peintiadau olew gan ddefnyddio lliwiau tawel a thechnegau gwaith brwsh i greu rhith aneglur sy’n cynrychioli’r cof.

Mae’r peintiadau yma’n chwilio am werth mewn pethau difywyd gan gwestiynu beth sy’n gwneud i ystafell deimlo’n wag. Mae’r broses a’r amser sy’n cael ei dreulio arnynt yn creu dyddiadur personol, gweledol sy’n adlewyrchu’r broses o alaru, rwy’n llywio fy meddyliau a’m teimladau drwy’r delweddau i greu allfa ar gyfer pen. Mae’r corff o waith yn cyflwyno egni cyfarwydd sy’n cael ei ddarlunio yn yr ystafelloedd yma ac yn annog gwylwyr i gyseinio ag ef. Bwriad y corff o waith yw rhoi amser i ystyried atgofion coll a nostalgia.

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
