Emilia Baulch

Emilia’s work explores and considers the topic of veganism, animal cruelty and feminism. She especially focuses on the dairy, egg and honey industry. Emilia works in acrylic paint as it is easy to use yet affective. She also enjoys using collage in her work as it allows her to collate all the ideas into one area of focus.

Emilia was vegetarian for six years before coming across a vegan propaganda video that instantly made her transition to veganism. As a female she feels she cannot justify supporting the dairy, honey and egg industry, as the female animals are exploited for their reproductive organs to produce products for humans. Emilia used the horror of finding out what actually happens in these industries to create artwork to make more people become aware of the manufacturing processes.

Emilia’s intentions behind her work are to highlight to the public the process used to achieve a glass of milk, an egg or a jar of honey. She wants to use her influence as an artist to become the voice of the animals. Though her artwork, Emilia believes the viewers will get a better understanding of how these animals have to live to produce items for human consumption. She believes her artwork simplifies the topics, making it much easier for people to understand; something she believes would have helped her when she turned vegan. Emilia’s biggest intention through her artwork is to inspire people to try veganism.

Mae gwaith Emilia’n archwilio ac yn ystyried feganiaeth, creulondeb i anifeiliaid a ffeministiaeth. Mae hi’n canolbwyntio’n arbennig ar y diwydiant llaeth, wyau a mêl. Mae Emilia’n gweithio gyda phaent acrylig gan ei fod yn hawdd ei ddefnyddio ond yn effeithiol hefyd. Mae’n mwynhau defnyddio collage yn ei gwaith hefyd gan ei fod yn ei galluogi i goladu’r holl syniadau mewn un man i ganolbwyntio arno.

Roedd Emilia’n llysieuwr am chwe blynedd cyn dod ar draws fideo propaganda fegan a wnaeth iddi droi at feganiaeth yn syth. Fel menyw, mae’n teimlo na all gyfiawnhau cefnogi’r diwydiant llaeth, mêl ac wyau, gan fod yr anifeiliaid benywaidd yn cael eu hecsbloetio ar gyfer eu horganau atgenhedlu i gynhyrchu cynhyrchion ar gyfer pobl. Defnyddiodd Emilia’r arswyd o ddarganfod beth sy’n digwydd mewn gwirionedd yn y diwydiannau hyn i greu gwaith celf i wneud i fwy o bobl ddod yn ymwybodol o’r prosesau gweithgynhyrchu.

Hanfod gwaith Emilia yw tynnu sylw’r cyhoedd at y broses a ddefnyddir i gael gwydraid o laeth, wy neu jar o fêl. Mae hi eisiau defnyddio’i dylanwad fel artist i fod yn llais ar ran yr anifeiliaid. Drwy ei gwaith celf, mae Emilia’n credu y bydd y gwylwyr yn cael gwell dealltwriaeth o sut mae’n rhaid i’r anifeiliaid hyn fyw i gynhyrchu eitemau i’w bwyta gan bobl. Mae hi’n credu bod ei gwaith celf yn symleiddio’r pynciau, gan ei gwneud yn llawer haws i bobl eu deall; rhywbeth y mae hi o’r farn y byddai wedi ei helpu hi pan wnaeth hi droi’n fegan. Prif fwriad Emilia drwy ei gwaith celf yw ysbrydoli pobl i roi cynnig ar feganiaeth.

My work explores the relationship between a space and the art in it. I have become intrigued by how a painting can effect a space, exploring corporate art, it can be used to influence productivity and creativity in that environment. With influence from Colour Theory,...

We have never been so connected yet so alone. The internet has become integral to our daily lives, no element of our existence seems untouched by it. But have we been caught and paralysed in the web? We are constantly on display and exposed, yet anonymous. We seem to...

I would describe my art as confessional; I take inspiration from my life events and feelings surrounding these experiences, I translate this through my work. I see my practice as a portal from my life in which I can lose myself and explore the deepest truths of my...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
