As a textile designer, I enjoy taking a handcrafted approach to creative practice. This collection, entitled Nature’s Remedy, has been developed through a process of digitising lino prints to create organic yet commercial designs. Inspired by the Dartmoor landscape and eco-psychology, I have explored how immersion in nature can be beneficial towards health and wellbeing, reducing stress and promoting healing. The collection celebrates the beauty of the natural world through the variety of nature found across the Dartmoor landscape.

Aiming to encourage a reconnection with nature to boost wellbeing, Nature’s Remedy uses calming pastel tones in conjunction with pops of mood-boosting colour. It is designed for a range of luxury camping and indoor accessory products. The dual usage helps to connect the consumer market with nature by encouraging outdoor experiences while also having the potential to bring nature into the home. The designs are printed onto waterproof fabric in recognition of the durability required for outdoor usage.
Nature’s Remedy is split into two sub-collections; River Reflections is influenced by the River Dart and creates a whimsical impression of natural beauty through river scenes and stylised organic foliage. Natural greens, soothing blues and pops of lilac build a calming atmosphere that encourages a mindful moment through nature. Explore Dartmoor takes inspiration from the iconic tor landscape of Dartmoor and pairs natural tones with energising colours that generate joy and encourage outdoor adventure as a pathway to wellbeing through nature. Together the collection uses Dartmoor to investigate nature’s role in mindfulness and wellbeing, helping modern society find balance in busy and uncertain times.

Fel dylunydd tecstilau, rwy’n mwynhau defnyddio dull creu â llaw ar gyfer ymarfer creadigol. Mae’r casgliad hwn, o’r enw Nature’s Remedy, wedi’i ddatblygu drwy broses o ddigideiddio printiau leino i greu dyluniadau organig ond masnachol. Mae wedi’i ysbrydoli gan dirwedd Dartmoor ac eco-seicoleg, ac rydw i wedi archwilio sut y gall trochi mewn natur fod o fudd i iechyd a lles, gan leihau straen a hyrwyddo iachâd. Mae’r casgliad yn dathlu harddwch y byd naturiol drwy’r natur amrywiol a geir ar draws tirwedd Dartmoor.

Gyda’r nod o annog ailgysylltu â natur i hybu lles, mae Nature’s Remedy yn defnyddio pastel tawel gydag ambell fflach o liw sy’n rhoi hwb i’r hwyliau. Mae wedi’i ddylunio ar gyfer casgliad o gynhyrchion gwersylla moethus ac ategolion dan do. Mae’r defnydd deuol yn helpu i gysylltu’r farchnad defnyddwyr â natur drwy annog profiadau awyr agored ond gyda’r potensial i ddod â natur i’r cartref hefyd. Mae’r dyluniadau wedi’u hargraffu ar ffabrig gwrth-ddŵr i gydnabod y gwydnwch sydd ei angen ar gyfer defnydd awyr agored. Mae Nature’s Remedy wedi’i rannu’n ddau is-gasgliad; Mae Afon Dart yn dylanwadu ar River Reflections ac mae’n creu argraff chwareus o harddwch naturiol drwy olygfeydd o afon a dail organig arddulliedig. Mae lliwiau gwyrdd naturiol, lliwiau glas sy’n llonyddu a fflachiadau o liw lelog yn creu awyrgylch tawel sy’n annog eiliad feddylgar drwy natur. Tirwedd bryniog eiconig Dartmoor yw’r ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer Explore Dartmoor ac mae’n paru lliwiau naturiol gyda lliwiau egnïol sy’n creu llawenydd ac yn annog antur awyr agored fel llwybr at les drwy natur. Gyda’i gilydd mae’r casgliad yn defnyddio Dartmoor i ymchwilio i rôl natur mewn meddwlgarwch a lles, gan helpu cymdeithas fodern i ddod o hyd i gydbwysedd mewn cyfnodau prysur ac ansicr.
