FRANCESCA DI LELLA

BA (Hons) Textiles

Di Lella Debut interior collection is inspired by mineral imagery captured at a microscopic level. This technique reveals stunning natural patterns within the earth that are simply not visible to the naked eye. I specialise primarily in digital pattern design but often combine these with silk screen printed textures using flock, foils and puff. This combination elevates 2D design and creates depth and interest not only for the eye but to touch. My design journey led me to layer the abstract mineral imagery with traditional damask illustrations to reinvent a classic and create a new and unique surface pattern.

The collection runs across many substrates notably wallpapers and fabrics but also tiles. I enjoy creating repeating structures throughout my designs and chose to adapt my digital tiles into literal tiles. The outcome as seen in the exhibition is bold and creates a statement through the border arrangement. Placement prints like these give character to the collection and evoke the bespoke artwork style I was hoping to achieve.

Ysbrydolwyd casgliad nwyddau cartref Di Lella Debut gan ddelweddau mwynol microsgopig o fach. Mae’r dechneg hon yn datgelu patrymau naturiol gwych o fewn y ddaear na ellir mo’u gweld gyda’r llygad noeth. Rydw i’n arbenigo’n bennaf mewn dylunio patrymau digidol ond yn aml yn cyfuno’r rhain gyda gweadau printio â sgrin sidan gan defnyddio fflocs, ffoil a phwffiadau. Mae’n gyfuniad sy’n codi dyluniad 2D a chreu dyfnder a diddordeb i’r llygad ac i’w gyffwrdd. Arweiniodd fy nhaith ddylunio fi i haenu’r delweddau mwynol haniaethol gyda darluniadau damasg traddodiadol i ailddyfeisio clasur ac i greu patrwm arwyneb newydd ac unigryw.

Mae llawer o is-haenau yn y casgliad yn enwedig papur wal a ffabrigau ond hefyd teils. Dw i’n mwynhau ailadrodd strwythurau drwy fy nyluniadau ac yn dewis addasu fy nheils digidol yn deils go wir. Mae’r canlyniad fel y gwelir yn yr arddangosfa yn feiddgar ac yn creu datganiad drwy drefniant y border. Mae printiadau lleoliad fel hyn yn rhoi cymeriad i’r casgliad ac yn ennyn yr arddull bwrpasol roeddwn i’n gobeithio ei gyflawni yn fy ngwaith celf.
