BA (Hons) Fine Art

My artwork is made in response to the ambitions that I have to create a sustainable art practice. In this bid to create the type of practice I desire, I have concentrated on using materials that have both; achievably sustainable making processes and outcomes. Whilst equally I have been exploring the relationship that art has with functionality. Specifically, focusing on the practical applications of artworks after they have served their purpose as art – looking at the lifecycles of a material and how it can become usable in its ‘afterwards’.

The type of material I have explored that has a significant correlation with my ambitions are of an edible nature; pasta dough. I have tried to remain consistent with my use of pattern, colour, and nature as inspiration of the illustrative designs on this edible material.

Mae fy ngwaith celf wedi’i greu mewn ymateb i fy uchelgais i greu ymarfer celf cynaliadwy. Yn yr ymgais hon i greu’r math o ymarfer rwy’n dyheu amdano, rwyf wedi canolbwyntio ar ddefnyddio deunyddiau sy’n meddu ar y ddau; prosesau a deilliannau creu cynaliadwy cyraeddadwy. Rwyf hefyd wedi bod yn archwilio’r berthynas rhwng celf ac ymarferoldeb. Yn benodol, canolbwyntio ar gymwysiadau ymarferol gwaith celf wedi iddynt gyflawni eu pwrpas fel celf – gan edrych ar gylch bywyd deunydd a sut y gall fod yn ddefnyddiol ‘wedyn’.

Mae natur fwytadwy i’r math o ddeunydd rwyf wedi’i archwilio sydd â chydberthynas arwyddocaol â’m huchelgais; Toes pasta. Rwyf wedi ceisio bod yn gyson o safbwynt fy nefnydd o batrwm, lliw, a natur fel ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer dyluniadau darluniadol y deunydd bwytadwy hwn.

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
