BSc (Hons) Product Design

When I was a child, I was fascinated by the designed world. Toys and remotes were taken apart to see the workings and I seldom left the house without my Gameboy or wearing my Jurassic Park G-shock.

I aim to make attractive, engaging objects and services that inspire users and make a positive impact. A human centred approach is instrumental to my practice to ensure a highly usable and intuitive product. By imbuing my design with care, I hope that this empathy is felt in the experience of the user. My ambition is to develop a relationship of trust with the end user and for this feedback to further evolve the product and my practice.

Recent investigation into the ecological consequence of design has driven me to be more mindful of the environmental effect of my work. It has now become extremely important to make objects with recycled or sustainable materials, and make sure products can be disassembled or reused. If these ideas are considered, new design can be made to not only improve the life of the end user, but also raise prospects of the natural world.

Pan oeddwn i’n blentyn, cefais fy swyno gan y byd cynlluniedig. Roeddwn i’n tynnu teganau a theclynnau rheoli o bell yn ddarnau i weld eu tu mewn ac anaml y byddwn yn gadael y tŷ heb fy Gameboy neu’n gwisgo fy G-shock Jurassic Park.

Fy nod yw gwneud gwrthrychau a gwasanaethau deniadol a diddorol sy’n ysbrydoli defnyddwyr ac yn cael effaith gadarnhaol. Mae dull sy’n canolbwyntio ar bobl yn allweddol i’m hymarfer i sicrhau cynnyrch defnyddiol a greddfol iawn. Drwy lenwi fy nyluniad â gofal, rwy’n gobeithio y bydd yr empathi hwn yn cael ei deimlo ym mhrofiad y defnyddiwr. Fy uchelgais yw datblygu perthynas o ymddiriedaeth gyda’r defnyddiwr terfynol ac i’r adborth hwn esblygu’r cynnyrch a’m hymarfer ymhellach.

Mae ymchwiliad diweddar i ganlyniad ecolegol dylunio wedi fy ysgogi i fod yn fwy ystyriol o effaith amgylcheddol fy ngwaith. Erbyn hyn mae’n eithriadol o bwysig gwneud gwrthrychau â deunyddiau wedi’u hailgylchu neu ddeunyddiau cynaliadwy, a sicrhau y gellir datgymalu neu ailddefnyddio cynhyrchion. O ystyried y syniadau hyn, gellir gwneud dyluniad newydd nid yn unig i wella bywyd y defnyddiwr terfynol, ond i wella rhagolygon y byd naturiol hefyd.
