The art style Cubism is the inspiration within my work, especially the processes and methods of abstraction. An artist who has inspired my work is David Hockney, and his series of photomontages has become a huge influence within my work. The idea of being able to manipulate the appearance of an object has always interested me, and I find having the ability to dismember an image and manipulate and distort it to create something new, powerful.

The appearance of architecture is constantly evolving and is even being influenced by art movements. The architecture of modern buildings is becoming more complex and creative. I find this interesting, comparing the structural design and appearance of them to older architecture. The appearance of architecture is the main subject, I am interested in the comparison of appearance and structure of old and modern architecture, I use this interest to design and reconstruct buildings which are created from photos of old and modern architecture, and I merge photos together to create new buildings with an abstract appearance.

My work is photography and sculpture based and I create photomontages through the use of Photoshop from photos of various styles of architecture. In my work I turn the photomontages I create into 3D sculptures. I do this by dismembering and abstracting the designs on Photoshop in the style of Hockney before printing them out, and creating 3D shapes in various sizes from sections of the image before rebuilding the image in an abstract way.

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
