George Goom

BA (Hons) Illustration

I am an artist and music-maker based in Newport, Wales. My work mainly explores the human condition and its many absurdities and delights. Play and experimentation have always been fundamental elements of my practice, and satire often lays at the heart of what I do.

Recently, I have enjoyed making images in Photoshop by sampling different elements from the body of work I have made at university. These pictures are from my book ‘Life is Loud’, which is a compilation of the Photoshop drawings I have made in third year. From time to time, I find myself feeling overwhelmed by the pace of life and how hectic and chaotic it can be, and so this work was made in an attempt to process these feelings, and remind myself to slow down and breathe.

Rwyf yn artist sydd hefyd yn creu cerddoriaeth ac rwyf wedi fy lleoli yng Nghasnewydd. Bydd fy ngwaith yn bennaf yn archwilio’r cyflwr dynol a’r amryfal bethau ysmala a’r pethau pleserus sy’n rhan ohono. Bu chwarae ac arbrofi yn elfennau sylfaenol yn fy ymarfer erioed, ac yn aml mae dychan yn rhan ganolog o’r hyn a wnaf.

Yn ddiweddar rwyf wedi bod wrthi yn mwynhau creu delweddau yn Photoshop drwy samplu elfennau gwahanol o’r gwaith rwyf wedi’i gyflawni yn y brifysgol. Daw’r darluniau hyn o’m llyfr ‘Life is Loud’ sydd wedi’i lunio o gasgliad o’r lluniadau Photoshop a wnes yn fy nhrydedd flwyddyn. O bryd i’w gilydd, mae cyflymdra bywyd yn drech na fi a pha mor gynhyrfus ac anhrefnus y gall fod, ac felly cafodd y gwaith yma ei wneud mewn ymgais i brosesu’r teimladau hyn ac atgoffa fy hunan i arafu ac anadlu.
