My work has been created using both sourced and self-made videos. Through editing, I have found a love for the look of CRT monitor style videos, combined with bright colours that really draw in the viewer. Video is very stimulating as it allows me to show clips that we are bombarded with on the television constantly. I have chosen to show three different videos that link together at once on three old televisions. I have thought about how the viewing of the television does as much for us as much as the fireplace did for past generations and is meant to be a source of relaxation, but in this time of leisure we are hounded with the objectification of women.

Fusing sourced and my self-made videos I aspire to examine how women are represented in the media. My work proves a point that women shouldnt compare themselves too unrealistic ideals. I use clips that I personally find are both good and bad representations of women, however it is up to the viewer to decide which one is which. Building on an array of found-footage I montage clips, abstracting them to give an archaic effect as a way of saying these ideals belong in the past.

My work is really a representation of how I see the media manipulating people’s minds into thinking that women should be sexualised and objectified. Overall, I would like my work to be thought-provoking and for it to bring attention to the misrepresentation of women.

Cafodd fy ngwaith ei greu gan ddefnyddio fideos o ffynonellau a rhai y gwnes i fy hunan. Drwy olygu, des i’n hoff o’r olwg ar fideos math monitor CRT, wedi’u cyfuno â lliwiau llachar sy’n gwneud i’r gwylwyr ymgysylltu. Mae fideo yn symbylol iawn gan ei fod yn fy ngalluogi i ddangos clipiau y byddwn yn eu gweld ar y teledu yn gyson. Rwyf wedi dewis dangos tri fideo gwahanol sy’n cysylltu â’i gilydd ar yr un pryd ar dri hen set deledu. Rwyf wedi meddwl sut y bydd gwylio’r teledu yn gwneud cymaint i ni ag y gwnaeth y lle tân i genedlaethau yn y gorffennol. Bwriad y teledu yw bod yn fodd i ymlacio ond yn yr amser hamdden yma cawn weld menywod yn cael eu troi’n wrthrychau dro ar ôl tro.

Gan asio’r fideos o ffynonellau a’r rhai y gwnes i fy hunan, rwy’n ceisio archwilio sut caiff menywod eu cynrychioli yn y cyfryngau. Mae fy ngwaith yn profi pwynt na ddylai menywod gymharu eu hunain â delfrydau afrealistig. Rwy’n defnyddio clipiau sydd yn fy marn i yn cynrychioli menywod mewn ffordd dda a ffordd wael. Fodd bynnag, caiff y gwyliwr ei hun benderfynu p‘un yw p’un. Gan adeiladu ar amrywiaeth o ffilmiau rwyf wedi cael hyd iddyn nhw, byddaf yn creu montage o glipiau gan eu haniaethu i greu effaith hynafol yn ffordd o ddweud bod y delfrydau hyn yn perthyn i’r gorffennol.

Mae fy ngwaith i bob pwrpas yn cynrychioli sut rwy’n gweld y cyfryngau yn dylanwadu ar feddyliau pobl a’u cael i feddwl y dylid troi menywod yn fodau rhywiol ac yn wrthrychau. Ar y cyfan, hoffwn i’m gwaith wneud i bobl feddwl ac i alw sylw i’r ffordd y câi menywod eu cam-gynrychioli.

My artwork was initially inspired by the rave scene which is usually an intense environment of music, colour and lights. I decided to recreate the feelings that my experience evoked, with the use of illuminative acrylics and spray paints on canvas. As spray painting...

Our species has become increasingly disconnected from nature. I focus on landscapes of personal significance and/or landscapes that have been disrupted by industrial use. Materials from these sites (often rocks, muds, and bricks) are used through a process-orientated...

Non-linear narratives such as unreliable memories, leaky dreams and deja vu are a central reference within my practice. I address the structure of these forms of narrative using repetition, replication and iterations of time. My work is largely sculptural, using...

Exploring the fragmentation of memory through the physicality of found objects and the spoken word, my work has become an archive of my family history. Due to the archival nature of my work, I replicate ways of preserving my objects through the attentiveness of their...

In my current practice I am concerned with the objectivity and phenomenology of colour. Through using media such as light and coloured acetate, my present work is intentionally focused and uncluttered, allowing colour to be considered as a singularity without any...

With a love for colour my work addresses form and shape and the impact this has on a space. I am demonstrating how the use of bright colour can create maximum optical impact. I’m interested in pattern and repetition to create a visual aesthetic whilst whilst working...
