“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation”
– Plato

Passionate about people and play, I focus on creating objects and spaces in which participation and interactivity are key. Through active engagement my work endeavours to spark genuine connections between people, with a shared sense of joy being at the very core.

In an ever more mechanised world, day-to-day human interactions seem to fall by the wayside. My work serves to bring people together and to highlight the strength of community. In my work, I am equally comfortable sidestepping digital technology and challenging participants to respond to their physical surroundings, as I am embracing it as a powerful means of connecting people positively.

Staying home during the Covid-19 pandemic and having limited access to tools and materials has unbridled my innate innovator. My final university project has become a scrap heap challenge and I have revelled in problem solving, re-purposing found objects and discovering treasure in others tat.

This project was intended for walkabout performance at festivals. ‘It’s Your Party’ is a travelling, wearable birthday tea party. The detachable fabric party snacks are made to entice imaginative party people to gorge themselves on some pretend birthday tea. It’s the party which comes to YOU. No invite needed.

“Gallwch ddarganfod mwy am rywun mewn awr o chwarae na mewn blwyddyn o sgwrs”
– Plato

A minnau’n angerddol dros bobl a chwarae, rwy’n canolbwyntio ar greu gwrthrychau a gofodau lle mae cyfranogi a rhyngweithio’n allweddol. Trwy ymgysylltu gweithredol mae fy ngwaith yn ceisio sbarduno cysylltiadau go iawn rhwng pobl sydd, gydag ymdeimlad a rennir o lawenydd wrth y gwreiddyn.

Mewn byd sydd wedi’i fecaneiddio’n gynyddol byth, mae rhyngweithio dynol o ddydd i ddydd i’w weld yn cael ei roi o’r neilltu. Mae fy ngwaith yn anelu at ddod â phobl ynghyd ac amlygu cryfder cymuned. Yn fy ngwaith rwyf yr un mor gyfforddus yn cilgamu technoleg ddigidol ac yn herio cyfranogwyr i ymateb i’w hamgylchyniadau diriaethol ag yr wyf yn ei gofleidio fel modd pwerus o gysylltu pobl mewn ffordd gadarnhaol.

Mae aros adref yn ystod y pandemig Covid-19 a chael mynediad cyfyngedig i offer a deunyddiau wedi rhyddhau fy arloeswr cynhenid. Mae fy mhrosiect terfynol yn y brifysgol wedi mynd yn her tomen hen-haearn ac rwyf wedi dwlu ar ddatrys problemau, rhoi defnydd newydd i wrthrychau y daethpwyd o hyd iddynt a darganfod trysor mewn sborion pobl eraill.

Bwriadwyd y prosiect hwn ar gyfer perfformiad cerdded o gwmpas mewn gwyliau. Mae ‘It’s Your Party’ yn barti te pen-blwydd teithiol y gellir ei wisgo. Mae’r byrbrydau parti ffabrig all gael eu datod wedi’u creu i ddenu pobl parti llawn dychymyg i fwyta llond eu boliau ar de pen-blwydd dychmygol. Dyma’r parti sy’n dod atoch CHI. Does dim angen gwahoddiad.
