My practise is an exploration of the embodied experience and the way I visually perceive the landscape. I predominately work with seascapes, where to me the sense of the sublime is at its greatest. I investigate how I interpret the places I visit often. Capturing my emotional and intuitive response, its visual effortless beauty and the colours and textures.

Psychogeography is important in my practise. It explores the way someone experiences a geographical landscape on foot, taking in the sights, sounds and smells and how this environment can involuntary affect your emotions and behaviour. It is unique to each person, influenced by past experiences and relations with particular places. It inevitably allows each person to be impacted in the way that you personally perceive a place.

My paintings are slightly abstract which allows the viewer an exclusive expression to how I interpret the landscape. Using fluidity in my painting allows it to reflect upon the visual perceptions of the constant changing of nature specifically; the waves, clouds and light. In addition, I apply a rough texture to create a relief, this replicates the rough terrain, strong waves and wind, that can be felt, heard and seen. Whilst working with light and colour in my paintings to create an atmosphere that explores my emotional response. That all work together to capture a moment within the landscape.

Rwy’n archwilio’r profiad a ymgorfforwyd a’r ffordd rwy’n amgyffred y dirwedd. Yn bennaf, rwy’n gweithio gyda morluniau, lle mae’r ymdeimlad o’r dyrchafedig ar ei fwyaf yn fy marn i. Rwy’n ymchwilio i’r ffordd rwy’n dehongli’r llefydd rwy’n ymweld â nhw yn aml. Dal fy ymateb emosiynol a sythweledol, ei brydferthwch gweledol diymdrech a’r lliwiau a’r gweadau.

Mae seicoddaearyddiaeth yn bwysig yn yr hyn rwy’n ei wneud. Mae’n archwilio’r ffordd y mae rhywun yn profi tirwedd ddaearyddol ar droed, gan werthfawrogi’r golygfeydd, y synau a’r arogleuon a sut y gall yr amgylchedd hwn effeithio’n anfwriadol ar eich emosiynau a’ch ymddygiad. Mae’n unigryw i bob person, wedi’i ddylanwadu gan brofiadau o’r gorffennol a chysylltiadau â llefydd penodol. Yn anochel, mae’n sicrhau y gellir effeithio ar bob person yn y ffordd rydych chi yn bersonol yn amgyffred lle.

Mae fy mhaentiadau ychydig yn haniaethol sy’n rhoi mynegiant unigryw i’r sawl sy’n edrych arnynt ynghylch sut rwy’n dehongli’r dirwedd. Mae defnyddio hylifedd yn fy ngwaith yn ei alluogi i fyfyrio ar ganfyddiadau gweledol y ffyrdd y mae natur yn newid yn gyson; y tonnau, y cymylau a golau. Hefyd, rwy’n defnyddio gwead garw er mwyn creu cerfwedd. Mae hyn yn cyfleu’r tir garw, tonnau a gwynt cryf, y gellir eu teimlo, eu clywed a’u gweld. Wrth weithio gyda golau a lliw yn fy mhaentiadau er mwyn creu awyrgylch sy’n archwilio fy ymateb emosiynol. Mae hyn oll yn cydweithio er mwyn dal moment o fewn y dirwedd.

My work explores the relationship between a space and the art in it. I have become intrigued by how a painting can effect a space, exploring corporate art, it can be used to influence productivity and creativity in that environment. With influence from Colour Theory,...

We have never been so connected yet so alone. The internet has become integral to our daily lives, no element of our existence seems untouched by it. But have we been caught and paralysed in the web? We are constantly on display and exposed, yet anonymous. We seem to...

I would describe my art as confessional; I take inspiration from my life events and feelings surrounding these experiences, I translate this through my work. I see my practice as a portal from my life in which I can lose myself and explore the deepest truths of my...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
