My work focuses the lack of ability to capture and recreate what is seen. We have a specific set of tools use to capture moments and sites that connect with us.

One of the most common is to document things that the person behind the camera has seen. To specify; I am working on understanding the reason why the definition of digital pictures/digital printing loses most of the colour definition.

A person may take the highest quality photograph with their camera and print said image at 1200dpi, if that photograph is of an artwork most colour will be lost. The main reason for this is; even if you use an RBG or CYMK printer, you cannot print fluorescent/neon colours through standard domestic tools. Thus, if you photograph an artwork with fluorescent/neon colours, those colours will not be transferable.

My work is to demonstrate this process that causes lack of definition transference. I do this by painting/screen-printing a physical piece using fluorescent paints/inks, then photograph said pieces. The photographs are used to recreate the piece digitally, as well as to sample the colours directly. The 3 pieces (original physical piece, digital recreation print, photograph print) are used as a triptych for direct comparison.

It is clear to see the colour deterioration

Mae fy ngwaith yn canolbwyntio ar ddiffyg gallu i ddal ac ail-greu yr hyn a welir. Mae gennym ddulliau penodol a ddefnyddir i ddal momentau a safleoedd sy’n creu argraff arnom.

Un o’r rhai mwyaf cyffredin yw dogfennu pethau y mae’r person y tu ôl i’r camera wedi’i weld. Yn benodol, rwy’n gweithio ar ddeall y rheswm pam mae lluniau digidol/argraffu digidol yn colli llawer o’r diffiniad lliw.

Gall person dynnu’r ffotograff o’r ansawdd gorau gyda’i gamera ac argraffu’r ddelwedd honno ar 1200dpi. Os bydd y ffotograff hwnnw o waith celf, caiff y rhan fwyaf o’r lliw ei golli. Y prif reswm dros hyn yw: hyd yn oed os byddwch yn defnyddio peiriant argraffu RBG neu CYMK, ni allwch argraffu lliwiau fflwroleuol/neon drwy ddulliau domestig safonol. Felly, os byddwch yn cymryd ffotograff o waith celf sy’n cynnwys lliwiau fflwroleuol/neon, ni ellir trosglwyddo’r lliwiau hyn.

Nod fy ngwaith yw dangos y broses hon sy’n atal diffiniad rhag cael ei drosglwyddo. Gwnaf hyn drwy baentio/sgrin-argraffu darn ffisegol gan ddefnyddio paentiau/inciau fflwroleuol, ac yna gymryd ffotograff o’r darnau dan sylw. Defnyddir y ffotograffau i ail-greu’r darn yn ddigidol, yn ogystal â samplu’r lliwiau yn uniongyrchol. Defnyddir y 3 darn (y darn ffisegol gwreiddiol, y print ail-greu digidol, a’r print o’r ffotograff) fel triptych ar gyfer cymharu’n ddigidol.

Mae’r dirywiad yn y lliw yn amlwg.

My artwork was initially inspired by the rave scene which is usually an intense environment of music, colour and lights. I decided to recreate the feelings that my experience evoked, with the use of illuminative acrylics and spray paints on canvas. As spray painting...

Our species has become increasingly disconnected from nature. I focus on landscapes of personal significance and/or landscapes that have been disrupted by industrial use. Materials from these sites (often rocks, muds, and bricks) are used through a process-orientated...

Non-linear narratives such as unreliable memories, leaky dreams and deja vu are a central reference within my practice. I address the structure of these forms of narrative using repetition, replication and iterations of time. My work is largely sculptural, using...

Exploring the fragmentation of memory through the physicality of found objects and the spoken word, my work has become an archive of my family history. Due to the archival nature of my work, I replicate ways of preserving my objects through the attentiveness of their...

In my current practice I am concerned with the objectivity and phenomenology of colour. Through using media such as light and coloured acetate, my present work is intentionally focused and uncluttered, allowing colour to be considered as a singularity without any...

With a love for colour my work addresses form and shape and the impact this has on a space. I am demonstrating how the use of bright colour can create maximum optical impact. I’m interested in pattern and repetition to create a visual aesthetic whilst whilst working...
