BA (Hons) Ceramics

The traditions of the potters wheel are used as a starting point; the core elements of function and raw clay are never lost. Yet, the boundaries of its ambition are crossed by pushing form to its limit; the simplicity of glaze not distracting but emphasizing convex surface, sense of repetition and scale. Once traditions are met, it is this contemporary element that fuses the vessel with sculptural and architectural intent.

Although each individual piece has its own power, it is the final construction and combination of elements that devises a new framework. Power comes from the combination of tradition, skill and complexity of sculptural composition, forming an entirely new piece with ambitious thematic presence for ceramics.
