Self-Portrait

Self-Portrait is a part of a ceramic and theoretical investigation into what portraiture can reveal to the viewer. This collection of ceramic objects physically describes the process which I have undertaken to complete my Masters, starting with the thesis of my work, then onto the premise and continuing to the development in which this degree has taken myself to.
Each piece in the collection has a narrative and a symbolic value of its own, unravelling itself through the internal and external space morphing itself into another object. Each ceramic object symbolises a part in my life up until this moment in time. The use of colour and form gives all the individual objects their own persona, removing the peripheral and replacing them with the essential qualities needed to connect the viewer to the object.
Self-portraiture allows the viewer to find oneself, the tyranny of something, having different values of an object. Self-Portrait is the portraiture of objects, of my own objects that help symbolise and dissect my life.
