In our Bodies

I am a Welsh speaking surface pattern designer based in South Wales. For many years I have been interested in working with the female form and displaying its variations of natural beauty through drawing. Sketching is the starting point to all my designs and expressive mark making is what inspires me. My drawings are then used for inspiration to create digital fabric designs, perfecting and manipulating the original hand drawn pieces.

My ‘in our bodies’ collection is based on combining two natural forms. Female figures and symbolic florals are merged to create empowering and feminine prints. This lifestyle and interiors collection is made for Spring/Summer 2020, displaying digital techniques on a range of elegant fabrics along with textured wallpapers. Each design has been named using positive adjectives that would hopefully inspire and motivate women. These uplifting words are a reminder of how we should feel every day in our bodies. The style is consistently free flowing and organic to portray a soft and gentle look. With a vibrant yet neutral colour pallet, this collection is enough to brighten up any product and bring positivity.

Rwy’n ddylunydd patrymau arwyneb Cymraeg fy iaith yn Ne Cymru. Ers blynyddoedd lawer rwyf wedi cael diddordeb mewn gweithio gyda’r ffurf fenywaidd ac arddangos ei amrywiadau harddwch naturiol trwy ddarlunio. Braslunio yw man cychwyn fy holl ddyluniadau a gwneud marciau llawn mynegiant yw’r hyn sy’n fy ysbrydoli. Mae fy narluniadau’n cael eu defnyddio wedyn fel ysbrydoliaeth i greu dyluniadau ffabrig digidol, gan berffeithio a thrin y darnau gwreiddiol a ddyluniwyd â llaw.

Mae fy nghasgliad ‘In our Bodies’ yn seiliedig ar gyfuno dwy ffurf naturiol. Cyfunir ffigurau benywaidd a phatrymau blodeuog symbolaidd i greu printiau grymusol a benywaidd. Mae’r casgliad ffordd o fyw ac addurniadau mewnol hwn wedi’i greu ar gyfer Gwanwyn/Haf 2020, gan arddangos technegau digidol ar ystod o ffabrigau cain ynghyd â phapurau wal gweadog. Enwir pob dyluniad gan ddefnyddio ansoddeiriau cadarnhaol sy’n anelu at ysbrydoli a symbylu menywod. Mae’r geiriau dyrchafol hyn yn ein hatgoffa sut y dylem deimlo bob dydd yn ein cyrff. Mae’r arddull yn llifo’n rhydd yn gyson ac yn organig i bortreadu golwg mwyn a thyner. Gyda phaled lliwiau bywiog ond niwtral, mae’r casgliad hwn yn ddigon i fywhau unrhyw gynnyrch a chreu positifrwydd.
