Consumerism is increasing every day, not just with the abundance of objects in industries including technology and fashion, but now with the photographs we take and the videos that are shared. My interest in contemporary engagement with visual mediums pushes me to explore how images come into being and are engaged with. Especially questioning where the materiality of art and photography sits now that the internet has become a fast-paced sharing environment for us all.

I aim to slow the viewer down, creating work that has an interactive and exploratory aspect to it. often fragmenting visual material, resulting in the subject matter sometimes being lost. However, due to the saturation of imagery we’re exposed to in everyday life, I feel its sometimes more important for the physical material and process of the artwork to be engaged with over its subject matter.

Through the non instant processes of analogue formats I am slowed down. This reduced pace allows me to think in a more thorough way and engage with physical material attentively. I am currently exploring alternative ways of displaying visual media aiming to give the viewer a more sensory and engaging experience, with an emphasis on the works material qualities such as in books, interactive work, photographic sculpture and installation.

Mae prynwriaeth yn cynyddu bob dydd, nid dim ond gyda’r llu o wrthrychau mewn diwydiannau yn cynnwys technoleg a ffasiwn, ond nawr gyda’r ffotograffau a gymerwn a’r fideos a rennir. Mae fy niddordeb mewn ymgysylltiad cyfoes gyda chyfryngau gweledol yn fy ngwthio i archwilio sut mae delweddau yn cael eu creu a sut rydyn ni’n ymgysylltu â nhw. Yn enwedig cwestiynu ynghylch perthnasedd celf a ffotograffiaeth nawr bod y rhyngrwyd wedi dod yn amgylchedd rhannu mor gyflym i bob un ohonom.

Fy nod yw arafu’r sawl sy’n edrych arnynt, creu gwaith sy’n cynnwys agwedd ryngweithiol ac archwiliol, yn aml gan rannu deunydd gweledol, sy’n arwain at golli’r pwnc dan sylw weithiau. Fodd bynnag, oherwydd y toreth o ddelweddau y cawn ein hamlygu iddynt mewn bywyd bob dydd, rwy’n teimlo ei bod weithiau’n bwysicach ymgysylltu â’r deunydd ffisegol a phroses y gwaith celf nag â’r pwnc dan sylw.

Mae prosesau fformatau analog nad ydynt yn uniongyrchol yn fy arafu. Mae’r arafwch hwn yn fy ngalluogi i feddwl mewn ffordd fwy trylwyr ac ymgysylltu â deunydd ffisegol yn fanwl. Ar hyn o bryd, rwy’n archwilio ffyrdd amgen o arddangos cyfryngau gweledol gyda’r nod o roi profiad mwy synhwyraidd a diddorol i’r sawl sy’n edrych arnynt, gan bwysleisio rhinweddau deunydd y gwaith fel mewn llyfrau, gwaith rhyngweithiol, cerfluniaeth ffotograffig a gosodiadau.

My artwork was initially inspired by the rave scene which is usually an intense environment of music, colour and lights. I decided to recreate the feelings that my experience evoked, with the use of illuminative acrylics and spray paints on canvas. As spray painting...

Our species has become increasingly disconnected from nature. I focus on landscapes of personal significance and/or landscapes that have been disrupted by industrial use. Materials from these sites (often rocks, muds, and bricks) are used through a process-orientated...

Non-linear narratives such as unreliable memories, leaky dreams and deja vu are a central reference within my practice. I address the structure of these forms of narrative using repetition, replication and iterations of time. My work is largely sculptural, using...

Exploring the fragmentation of memory through the physicality of found objects and the spoken word, my work has become an archive of my family history. Due to the archival nature of my work, I replicate ways of preserving my objects through the attentiveness of their...

In my current practice I am concerned with the objectivity and phenomenology of colour. Through using media such as light and coloured acetate, my present work is intentionally focused and uncluttered, allowing colour to be considered as a singularity without any...

With a love for colour my work addresses form and shape and the impact this has on a space. I am demonstrating how the use of bright colour can create maximum optical impact. I’m interested in pattern and repetition to create a visual aesthetic whilst whilst working...
