BA (Hons) Illustration

As an artist, I tend to observe the environment I have been through, a consequence of feelings and opinions. The reality is that nothing and no one is perfect. One of the most common reasons for the creative block is the fear of imperfection. This has always been a very curious subject to me.

You see, in these paintings, the perspective, the scale, choice of colour, texture and mark-making. Everything is compressed into the frame on paper like a cramped place. It also contains drawing of elements in the room that evoke a feeling of discomfort and creative block in my own storytelling of the environment I have been through.

At some point, I explores that I had to adapt myself to the environment. That helps to overcome creative blocks. I’m glad my artwork speaks not just for my own but incorporates many other people out there with similar experiences but different perspectives.

Fel artist, rwy’n tueddu i arsylwi ar yr amgylchedd rydw i wedi bod ynddo, o ganlyniad i deimladau a barn. Y realiti yw nad oes dim na neb yn berffaith. Un o’r rhesymau mwyaf cyffredin dros rwystredigaeth greadigol yw ofn amherffeithrwydd. Bu hyn yn destun chwilfrydedd i mi erioed.

Yn y paentiadau hyn rydych chi’n gweld y persbectif, y raddfa, y dewis o liw, gwead a gwneud marciau. Mae popeth yn cael ei gywasgu i’r ffrâm ar bapur fel lle cyfyng. Mae’n cynnwys tynnu lluniau o elfennau yn yr ystafell hefyd sy’n ennyn teimlad o anesmwythyd a rhwystredigaeth greadigol yn fy straeon fy hun am yr amgylchedd rydw i wedi bod ynddo.

Ar ryw adeg, rwy’n archwilio’r ffaith fy mod i wedi gorfod addasu fy hun i’r amgylchedd. Mae hynny’n helpu i oresgyn rhwystredigaeth greadigol. Rwy’n falch bod fy ngwaith celf yn siarad ar ran fy mhrofiadau i ond yn ymgorffori profiadau llawer o bobl eraill sydd â phrofiadau tebyg ond safbwyntiau gwahanol.
