My practice lies in the exploration of architectural shapes and forms in our day to day life. After visiting cities such as London, Madrid, Berlin, Krakow and Rome, I have been able to compare and contrast different structures that lie in these places. I have delved deeper into investigating how architectural shapes and small details can be extracted and digitally transformed into patterns to highlight their beauty, including simple shapes created in brutalist architecture and more traditional forms. Inspired by artists such a Victor Vasarely and Katie Banazi, I have worked with vivid complimentary colours to contrast the dull tones found in urban environments, consequently causing these forms to be unrecognisable at a quick glance. Colour has been a constant factor in my practice as it brings me joy and excitement, as if I am exploring a new place. Another underlying theme is repetition, from the patterns themselves to the process of screen printing as a way of mass production, fitting with how our urban areas are becoming more and more saturated. Influenced heavily by artist Frank Stella, my collages suggest the constant burst of life in built up areas and create an explosion of colour. Layering patterns and three-dimensional components imitate those layers and clusters of buildings in these places, whilst the use of metallic pieces bring a sense of reality to the imaginary.

Mae fy ymarfer yn ymwneud ag archwilio siapiau a ffurfiau pensaernïol yn ein bywyd bob dydd. Ar ôl ymweld â dinasoedd fel Llundain, Madrid, Berlin, Krakow a Rhufain, dwi wedi gallu cymharu a chyferbynnu gwahanol strwythurau sydd yn y mannau hyn. Dwi wedi ymchwilio’n ddyfnach i weld sut y gellir dethol siapiau pensaernïol a manylion bychain a’u gweddnewid yn ddigidol yn batrymau i amlygu eu harddwch, gan gynnwys siapiau syml a grëwyd mewn pensaernïaeth frutalaidd a ffurfiau mwy traddodiadol. Artistiaid fel Victor Vasarely a Katie Banazi yw fy ysbrydoliaeth, a dwi wedi gweithio gyda lliwiau llachar sy’n cyd-fynd â’i gilydd i gyferbynnu â’r arlliwiau pwl a geir mewn amgylcheddau trefol, ac o ganlyniad yn achosi i’r ffurfiau hyn fod yn amhosib eu hadnabod o edrych arnyn nhw’n gyflym. Mae lliw wedi bod yn ffactor cyson yn fy ymarfer gan ei fod yn dod â llawenydd a chyffro i mi, fel pe bawn i’n darganfod lle newydd. Thema sylfaenol arall yw ailadrodd, o’r patrymau eu hunain i’r broses o sgrin-brintio fel ffordd o fasgynhyrchu, gan gyd-fynd â’r ffordd mae ein hardaloedd trefol yn dod yn llawnach o hyd. Mae’r artist Frank Stella’n ddylanwad mawr arna i, ac mae fy ngwaith collage yn awgrymu’r ffrwydrad cyson o fywyd mewn ardaloedd llawn adeiladau ac yn creu ffrwydrad o liw. Mae gosod patrymau mewn haenau a chydrannau tri dimensiwn yn efelychu’r haenau a’r clystyrau hynny o adeiladau yn y lleoedd hyn, tra bo’r defnydd o ddarnau metelaidd yn dod â theimlad o realiti i’r dychmygol.

We have never been so connected yet so alone. The internet has become integral to our daily lives, no element of our existence seems untouched by it. But have we been caught and paralysed in the web? We are constantly on display and exposed, yet anonymous. We seem to...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
