Scarlett Elizabeth Cook

I am a designer of eclectic, vibrant prints and patterns.

Driven by my new-found love and obsession for India, this collection ‘Immerse India’ is inspired by the beautifully chaotic world that I met there.
During my time at Cardiff Metropolitan I developed, what I believe to be an undying love for hand printing my designs. I tend to prefer being present at the whole creation of my work – perhaps that might seem a little controlling, but I like to think of it as slowly and personally pulling my designs and artefacts into existence.

This collection ‘Immerse India’ has challenged me to accept that time does not always allow for handmaking my designs. However, through this new digital pattern exploration, I have found a new addiction to oil pastels. This medium has carried my handmade impact across from my drawings to my digital prints, and further influenced my style as a designer.

Rwy’n ddylunydd printiau a phatrymau eclectig a bywiog.

Wedi’i sbarduno gan fy nghariad newydd at ac obsesiwn gydag India, mae’r casgliad ‘Immerse India’ yma wedi’i ysbrydoli gan y byd prydferth o anhrefnus y des o hyd iddo yno.
Yn ystod fy amser ym Mhrifysgol Metropolitan Caerdydd datblygais yr hyn yw wyf yn credu ei fod yn gariad anfarwol at brintio fy nyluniadau â llaw. Yn gyffredinol mae’n well gennyf fod yn bresennol yng nghreadigaeth gyfan fy ngwaith – efallai bod hynny ychydig yn rheolaethol, ond rwy’n hoffi meddwl amdano fel tynnu fy nyluniadau ac arteffactau’n araf i fodolaeth.

Mae’r casgliad ‘Immerse India’ hwn wedi fy herio i gydnabod nad yw amser bob amser yn caniatáu i mi greu fy nyluniadau â llaw. Er hynny, trwy’r ymchwil ddigidol newydd hon i batrymau, rwyf wedi datblygu caethineb newydd i bastelau olew. Mae’r cyfrwng hwn wedi cludo effaith fy ngwaith â llaw drosodd o fy narluniadau i fy mhrintiau digidol, a dylanwadu ymhellach ar fy arddull fel dylunydd.
