Ruination
My installation work focuses around a collection of sculptures, all constructed using every-day and industrial materials. Viewers recognise these materials, and are encouraged to explore and question the works. The installation explores ideas around Utopia, Dystopia and the Ruin, referring to sculpture as place. I rely on a desire for the ruin, inviting viewers to step onto the concrete plinth and move into the space. Construction of the work is the most important aspect, because the work is never truly finished, it’s in a constant state of transit through a process of construction and destruction.
