My practice is about exploring the streets that we live in. I believe that we forget the power that we have to challenge and change the norms of how public space is perceived and configured. My art tries to unveil the uniqueness of urban reality as well as its relationship with the contemporary human.

My work is currently embodied in three different ways of image-making; black and white film photography, high-quality digital photography, and low-quality phone photography. Through film photography, I found a way of protesting against my addiction to fast art and fast image creation. I slowed down and observed more. The slow image-making procedure of film photography enables me to spotlight the pleasant monotony of every single experience. By framing little details that surround me on my everyday routine, I try to highlight the ignored and the not important. Inspired by the overwhelming bombardment of information through social media, I wanted to throw my work into a new area, outside my safe zone. The limited number of images that can be captured through film photography forces me to pay attention to the framed material, thus, uncover a unique beauty of reality.

However, due to Covid-19, I was forced to change my practice. Being unable to interact within the street and develop my films, I was forced to use digital cameras and capture my “house experience” during the lockdown. By contrast, I chose to overuse digital photography and create countless images of similar objects and scenes inside my personal living space.

Influenced by the current situation of Covid-19 and the countless information bombardment social media, I forced myself to deeper explore the contemporary nature of the overexposure of privacy and everyday routine on social media. Thus, I exposed myself through a 24hour Instagram performance during which I recursively posted numerous spontaneous, non-premeditated, low-quality phone images every ten minutes. Through my practice, I question the fundamental qualities and addictions of contemporary life.

Ar hyn o bryd mae fy ngwaith wedi’i ymgorffori mewn tri dull gwneud delweddau gwahanol; ffotograffiaeth ffilm du a gwyn, ffotograffiaeth ddigidol ansawdd uchel a ffotograffiaeth ansawdd isel ar y ffôn. Trwy ffotograffiaeth ffilm, fe ddes i o hyd i ffordd o brotestio yn erbyn fy nghaethineb i gelfyddyd gyflym a chreu delweddau cyflym. Arafais i lawr ac arsylwais fwy. Mae gweithdrefn gwneud ffilmiau araf ffotograffiaeth ffilm yn fy ngalluogi i amlygu naws undonog ddymunol pob un profiad. Trwy fframio manylion bach sy’n fy amgylchynu ar fy ngweithdrefn bob dydd, rwy’n ceisio amlygu’r hyn a anwybyddir a’r hyn nad yw’n bwysig. A minnau wedi fy ysbrydoli gan y pelediad gwybodaeth llethol trwy gyfryngau cymdeithasol, roeddwn eisiau taflu fy ngwaith i ardal newydd, y tu allan i fy mharth diogel. Mae’r nifer cyfyngedig o ddelweddau all gael ei gofnodi trwy ffotograffiaeth ffilm yn fy ngorfodi i dalu sylw i’r deunydd wedi’i fframio, gan ddadorchuddio prydferthwch realiti unigryw.

Fodd bynnag, ces i fy ngorfodi i newid fy arfer oherwydd Covid-19. A minnau heb fedru rhyngweithio ar y stryd a datblygu fy ffilmiau, fe’m gorfodwyd i ddefnyddio camerâu digidol a chofnodi fy “mhrofiad tŷ” yn ystod y cyfyngiadau symud. Er cyferbyniad, dewisais orddefnyddio ffotograffiaeth ddigidol a chreu delweddau di-rif o wrthrychau a golygfeydd tebyg o fewn fy ngofod byw personol.

A minnau wedi fy nylanwadu gan y sefyllfa Covid-19 gyfredol a’r llif gwybodaeth di-ben-draw ar gyfryngau cymdeithasol, gorfodais fy hun i ymchwilio’n ddyfnach i natur gyfoes dinoethi preifatrwydd a gweithdrefnau bob dydd yn ormodol ar gyfryngau cymdeithasol. Gan hynny, fel ddinoethais fy hun trwy berfformiad Instagram 24 awr ac yn ystod hynny fe bostiais ddelweddau ffôn ansawdd isel anrhagfwriadol digymell yn ailadroddus bob deg munud. Trwy fy arfer, rwy’n cwestiynu rhinweddau a chaethinebau sylfaenol bywyd cyfoes.
